How did a white guy create a more realistic portrayal of the hood than any black person in Hollywoo?

I refuse to watch this and Euphoria keep hearing about it won’t watch

Actually saw the first episode of Snowfall and it was just off

I felt the same way. It does get better tho. I haven't watched past season 2 I just planned to binge once it's all over. Too many shows in my backlog and netflix spoiled me by putting entire seasons up at once

There was bullshyt too

The Corner was realistic, The Wire had some cartoonish shyt
The Wire had its "Hollywood" moments. Brother Mouzone stood out the most probably. He was a character you would find in a Tarantino film.

Omar jumping out the window. Well hell maybe a good amount of S5 was pushing it a bit.

I don't know if anybody stated this already, but David Chase and Edward Burns used Lamar's story for both the Corner and the Wire. If you all are fans of the Wire then you will remember that Lamar (DeAndre McCullough) is Brother Mouzone's assistant. McCullough died back in 2012.

So the story (because it was actually only one) was about Lamar's life in the drug trade. Burns was a cop that knew him.

A Better Life Eternally Eluded the Boy From ‘The Corner’ (Published 2012).

McCullough is the step son Donnie Andrews who was the real life Omar. Andrews married McCullough's mother Fran Boyd. Andrews died in 2012 too.

omar jumping out the window was based on a real story. his character is based on at least 2 robbers and surving a crazy jump is one of the real actions attributed to one of them.

Yea but why are 50 cents shows so unrealistic and hes a actual street nikka

Because Fif's show is about a Black supernikka. In reality all that happens is that the police watch your workers hem them up on a charge remind them that they will never be as rich as the boss get them to snitch use that as evidence to get bugs and wires around the boss wait for him to say something incrimination and the boss goes to jail for 30 years.

Real Kingpins had a 5 year run before they got killed or jailed at best.

Yeah the story is based on when Avon "Bodie" Barksdale robbed "Proposition Joe" Johnson and escaped out the window. The real Prop Joe died in that case.

I understand why Avon Barksdale was so mad. Simon didn't even change his damn name he literally read about his life in papers then starting talking about his Tec on the dresser.

Other real stuff was gangs putting bodies in buildings and most of the main characters like Marlo Stansfield, Avon Barksdale, Stringer Bell, Prop Joe, Omar and Cutty were based on real people and events.

So the answer to OP question is that the Wire for the most part is based upon real people and events, even if stuff was changed for dramatic purposes. I assume most of these other shows are fictional.

exactly all that shyt was lifted exactly from Real life. At best he just slightly changed their names. The Real Marlo Bates was cool with Avon. The Marlo. Stansfield from the Wire didn't know Avon because he was already locked up his Name was Timmirror Stansfield.

even brother mouzone has roots in an archetype that is based on at least two or three situations where the fruit of islam or splinter groups were implicated in organized crime activity. the thing that makes it unrealistic is for all the most spectacular stuff to happen in one city in a short amount of time between just a few characters. otherwise, there are real elements to even the crazy stuff.
