i think the nerds clapped after every LOTRI hate it. If the director/actors aren't present, there's no fukking reason to do it. To let the people in the audience know you liked it? That's what normal people have the internet for. You know, so you can also talk about it, because I doubt if I started an argument in a theater with one of those lames clapping about how the movie really sucked they'd probably look at me like I'm the weirdo, even though they're the idiots that are clapping at nobody who cares.
Anyway, first movie I've ever saw it happen was a lonesome nerd clapping when that super annoying old king guy (?) died in Return Of The King. People all seemed confused about it but laughed the silly bugger off. Then apparently it became a thing to do at every 'nerd' blockbuster, since I've witnessed first hand that people were applauding the end of Spider-Man 3 (which had my friend burst out in uncontrollable laughter) and one of the really, really big explosions in the second or third Transformers (whichever had the biggest explosion).
they didi think the nerds clapped after every LOTR
they did
Last time i remember applause in the theater was during the new star wars trailer, altho when the black stormtrooper popped up on the screen everyone was like
then they all wooed and clapped after it was done
EDIT: but wait clapping in theatres opposed to a bunch of loud mouth nikkaz in the theatre?

what type of man can enjoy himself in the vicinity of other men?:chatty22:It happened in The Dark Knight and Avengers when I went to see them. Why not clap? We paid our money and enjoyed ourselves.
:salka:Screenings don't really count imo. I went to a "Top Five" screening as well and it got huge applause afterward. Its a good movie no doubt but Chris Rock was actually in the building too so cats gave it up to him
