It's happened plenty of times in movies I've been to. I don't do it but hey, they paid their money, let them cook. Although when people clapped at the end of Selma I think it was more of being swept up in the emotion. Dark Knight has gotten the loudest applause I've ever witnessed in a theater though. Shyt was insane

How about when people clap during the movie. When I was young I went to see the fugitive, , the scene where Harrison Ford is running from TLJ , I swear practically the whole theater started cheering when he says TLJ has a gun and the cops stop him. :mjlol:

I went to a screening of 'Top Five' before it got sold to Paramount and it got a standing ovation

Avengers on opening day.

I went to a screening of 'Purple Rain' last year which essentially turned into a sing along and people applauded that too.

In the awkward pause before he starts playing the theme tune someone screams "GO ON! YOU CAN DO IT!" :skip:

I guess I go to some standing ass cinemas :yeshrug:

Maybe the single greatest movie reaction I ever witnessed was during 'The Secret Life Of Bees'. I went with my aunt and a couple of my cousins a few years ago. During the climax of an emotional scene where the little white girl is throwing a gang of jars of honey against a barn door, the cinema is completely silent and caught in the moment.

Then my aunt, shouts in her Old African Lady accent:

'O! What a waste!'
:mjcry:

The entire audience lost it.
