Every time an ignorant person says bicycling and public transit would never work in America like it does in Europe…

Wait. By what evidence does adding rail and bike lane create road blocks?

That's not what I said. I said they're adding roadblocks, in addition to other measures.

this is more evidence that doing traffic and car related infrasture is inferior to rail systems, this supports our arguments not yours.
This was the result of creating turnabouts to manage automobile traffic. Nothing to do with subways or monorails.

I live 12 miles from my job. Ain’t no way in the fukk I’m using a bike every day. fukk that

Americans are too fat and/or lazy to be biking anywhere. I know I am. :camby:

Imagine all the missed time and PTO taken because folks got into bike accidents, got injured, or got two clicks out and said fukk this and turned around and went home.
fukk I look like using up my chakra to bike down the street 5-10 minutes to pull up to the drive-thru? :mjtf:

Well it won’t work. On Long Island they took a whole lot of bus service away. Getting to my job by bus is a 2.5 hour commute including a 2 mile walk, vs a 25 minute drive.

So waste 4 hours a day, walk, and sit on a bus with loud smelly people, or drive in a peaceful, leather appointed environment? That’s an easy decision

So you can't use the LIRR?

Too many sprawling cities in America.

Europe works because we’re naturally smaller, our roads weren’t designed for massive cars either, so safety is also an issue.

Also too many oil lobbyists. I remember when I was in Arizona and they had only just OKed the building of a tram style service, but it was super controversial due to to debates going on in the city.

This guy has explained it all:

Houston is the first city I thought of when I saw this thread. It’s a great city, had fun there, but you definitely need a vehicle to move around.

no, wtf?

Why you acting like something underground has any affect on the road above? :dead:
I's literally just less cars and people in the firetrucks way.

Did you read the article or watch the clip? Where the hell are you coming from with trains? There are literal huge potted plants in the streets preventing a fire truck from making a turn. An actual roadblock.

A LOT of those pedestrian plazas in the city are unnecessary.

I'm not talking about the article. I've been talking about Subways and monorails the entire time and you've responded to my points about subways and monrails
Public transit isn't meant to replace cars and roads, but provide alternatives to it.

This dude is talking about missing work over bike accidents.

In a country with thousands of car-related deaths every year.

Didn't mention bike fatalities, just folks calling out from work because they got in an accident. :stopitslime:

Americans don't even workout regularly but they're gonna be biking to work? :russ:

Do you want the stats on car related accidents?

You really want to go down this path?
