Actually, you could take a bus nearly anywhere in Detroit back in the 90s. Most kids, including myself, took city buses to High School. The school would just give you a bus pass. Folks here in Boston can't even fathom the idea.Just pensively thinking I wondered did the automakers in Detroit think about the adverse effects of , “everybody owning a vehicle ” would put on the population decades later.
I could remember my grandfather telling me when he first came to Detroit how incredible the trolley and bus system was until all that was gutted for the interstates.
Yep, I took the bus all through out my 8th grade year - Grand River. It wasn’t as reliable as my grandfather said the the bus/trolley systems were in the 1930/40s.
