Most of the time it just seems forced. Like in this season 3 of stranger things, they made robin a lesbian. For what exactly? Contributed nothing to the story. Just seemed like the writers in the board room said we need to put a lgbt character in here so we can pander.

It actually kinda ruined her storyline with Steve with that reveal. They had built up a natural chemistry and it had been teased in one episode that she wanted to be with him. Then the next episode they swerve us and have her say she was really interested in one of the girls in their class. I was like :dwillhuh: as was Steve because it came from nowhere with no build, and since said girl had no role on the show, went nowhere.

Lol. Where do yall get these ridiculous statements from. They are 2% to 3% of the population at best.
Americans Still Greatly Overestimate U.S. Gay Population

This says self-identification to Gallup in this poll is 4.5%, so in truth the number is likely well over 5% since a lot of gays don't want to publicly admit it because of bigotry like we see in this thread.

In U.S., Estimate of LGBT Population Rises to 4.5%
Meanwhile, the millennial generation checked in at 8.2% self-identified as gay in 2017

1 out of 15 characters would be 6.67%.

These people exist in real life. Why wouldn't you put them on TV sometimes? People's belief in some kind of conspiratorial agenda doesn't make much sense to me.

There probably is a push for Trans stuff, because TV shows want to be trendy and progressive. I think this is probably a mistake, as the condition is not understood that well by science or psychology.

Plenty of white people have all white circles of friends. You can tell when a black person is introduce for their diversity quota...like Ross dating a black chick on friends.
Friends was ridiculous with the whiteness at the beginning of the show. Plenty of white people have all white circles of friends, no white people have all white neighbors, all white co-workers, all white dentists and doctors. Ross was a fukking professor and had no indian, african or asian friends? BULLshyt! In NYC? I have never walked into a big city restaurant or coffee shop and seen only white employees unless I was in the fukking pennsylvania mountains or rural michigan

I really don't give a fukk because I think most romantic subplots in shows/movie are unnecessary anyway. Some of my favorite shows of all time depict homosexual relationships and I never thought twice about it because the stories were always well told. And some of the most cringe inducing scenes I've ever seen were ham fisted depictions of homosexuality :yeshrug:

Because im not about to watch two men kissing or more on my screen. Ive dropped otherwise intresting shows cause of this (mr robot, american gods)

I dont care if a character is gay but im.not here for their romances which means I wouldnt rock with a gay central character. :yeshrug: fukk how you feel

Besides the fact that its beyond overepresented, I dont care to dig that far into the sexuality of fictional anyway. They just wanna normalize that freak shyt, yall cacs can have it.

I say yes. It's not something I'm enthusiastic about seeing but I'm not repulsed by gay characters. I thought Moonlight was a good film.

As far as I'm concerned, representation matters and that includes black LGBTQ characters. The reason why the integration is important to them is because it spares them from more erasure that they may experience in their own lives. And I want everyone of us to win, and that includes those among us who aren't like us.

I don't really give a fukk about the white gaze, they can do what they want :manny:

I wasn't sure how I felt when I entered this thread, but if I'm completely honest with myself, this is exactly how I feel.

But speaking for myself (and not Zero or anyone who dapped, agrees), I wouldn't/don't watch things that center on romance in any way, even if it's between a woman and a man or two women. I don't care for film and TV that's about/based on relationships.

But if characters in a show/film are gay, I honestly do not care one way or the other. Gay people exist in real life so they should exist on screen.
Damnit nikka you must have avoided like 95% of movies that's ever existed :mjlol: shyt even damn near every action movie got a romance subplot, or of the 23 MCU movies only Captain Marvel didn't have any romance

I said I don't like stuff centered or based on romance and relationships. Not stuff that has a subplot or characters who are in a relationship.

The Notebook
The Affair

etc.

Why?
Why not?

I fully support it because it makes sense to represent all kinds of people in movies and tv shows.

No, because it is a disgusting and depraved lifestyle and shouldn't be forced on an unsuspecting audience...

And what is sad is the producers try to make Blacks the forefront of that bullshyt....

Naw....don't need to see it....

This is also a great fukking point.

For years (decades) there have been wildly effeminate and/or gay characters in film and TV, and they were always treated like the joke (hitting on a straight character who isn't with it, a person in a dress turns around and they have a beard, or the guy that works at the store but is clearly gay but pretends not to be etc.)

But now that they're in the films and shows but not the joke, people scream "agenda"

:tuckerreally:
I honestly don't care as long as they don't turn straight characters into LGBT like what they did with Mister Terrific :scust:

NAH ITS TOO FORCED.

THE PERCENTAGE OF LGTB PPL VS THE REST OF THE COUNTRY
IS NOT BIG ENOUGH TO POP UP IN EVERY SHOW.

MOST PPL GO THEIR WHOLE DAY
WITHOUT SEEING ONE LGTB PERSON
IN REAL LIFE.

THESE SHOWS WOULD HAVE YOU THINKING
THEYRE 25% OF THE POPULATION
WHEN THEYRE LESS THAN 5%.

This post got me thinking about Family Feud.

Imagine if your only point of reference for America was the Steve Harvey version of Family Feud.

You'd think black folks was 60% of the population. Like every single episode has a black family, and some episodes have 2.

Forgive me brehs I'm on one right now:mjlol:
