Clown. The point of posting was to point out that it's the wrong discussion to have. It's more of what we always do. Someone has to be elevated as a backhand way of diminishing someone else. Hip Hop didn't spontaneously emerge. Elements of it are present in our music decades prior. It has a multitude of contributors. We should talk about them and leave the conversation at that.

:skip:
as well as setting the record straight historically

i don't see your point:gucci:

Rapping is not the beginning of Hip Hop

The DJ is the first

Breaking of course

Even Graf comes before rapping

So "who was rapping first" is not the question.

Here's why a Disco DJ can't be the first Hip Hop DJ

Cause Disco. Disco is one style. Hip Hop is another. That's why there's different words to name them and all that junk

Whoever took break beats and looped them on 2 turntables first... that's the inventor of Hip Hop

Blondie did a rap early on.. It certainly wasn't Hip Hop

Disco and Hip-hop weren't really different. Most "Hip-hop" parties had the same tunes as the Disco parties. Except for certain 'Break' records, which were extended for the dancers and emcees.
But don't think Hip-hop parties was a 3/4 hour sessions off Break records.

Also folks really gotta understand what Disco was in the Black communities. It was records that had tempo, and certain swing.

This was a big record in the Black Disco world.

Hollywood was from Harlem and he was the first one to do a whole song instead of call-n-respond/shout-out /little phrases in imitation of DJ's and radio personalities.

Hip Hop came from disco that's why the first rap records were over disco songs. Even at parties, they rapped over disco beats/breaks. That's why a disco DJ is the first hip hop DJ. Without disco, hip hop wouldn't exist.

@IllmaticDelta posted a source earlier itt that mentioned the isolation of the bronx was why they had the time and space to put the pillars together. But that Harlem was the stage. Where they presented hip hop to the world, established the flashiness of hip hop, etc.

what song?

The message is the first fully realized non party focused

Where there was subject matter that focused on the streets and not partying

hip hop and rap fully depended on that transition
