Can we ban the words "bad writing", "plot armor", "rushed" and "fan service" from The Film Room?

The. Terms are sooooo played out and get used so out of context that their points don’t even make sense.

It reminds me of scenario of being in a situation with people and everyone coming up with solutions, but then it be that one cat that’s shytting on everything and not bringing any alternatives to the table

Fan service absolutely means something,seems like you have just run into people using it out of context. A good example of fan service would be in Justice League fans wanted to see a showdown between Superman and Wonder Woman. Or when Wolverine fans wanted to see him wear the costume at least once. In both cases "fan service" failed to be delivered to fans. You can also "rush" something in an attempt to give fan service which can hurt the execution

That has happened in both the comics and cartoons though.

So wouldn’t that technically just be an example of bringing something already done from one medium to any other?

I kinda looked at fan service being some “what ifs” type shyt or when they do pop culture shyt that just blows up like this




That was embarrassingly one of the most “fan service” moves in CBM history EVER and yet much MORE minor shyt since then has been nitpicked and weaponized to used to diss something

All of those terms are applicable to discussion of entertainment. This is more of a “Stop talking about the shortcomings of my favorite movie/tv show.” thread like another poster said. It’s damn easy to refute the arguments of those that overuse these terms where they aren’t applicable, but maybe you can’t because they’re making points that deep down make some sense to you.

I have a ton of criticism about Game of Thrones S8 E3, but I still enjoyed the episode.
