can we agree that John Calipari and Roy Williams are not good coaches?

Very True....and Roy has become a Scavanger Recruiter over the years...Doesn't do the leg work...

They're good recruiters, and normally they're good at maintaining team chemistry pushing their players to give a full effort (Cal this year being an exception).

But as far as X's and O's, game planning, in-game adjustments, yeah they're trash.

I doubt he goes to UK. The kid would still be the center of attention at UK & have the pressure of the world on him. Not sure he's the type that likes that spotlight..Either way it isn't like y'all don't have James Young who could play the 3.

Theyrs more pressure at FSU where hed have to carry the team with way less talent and going where his parents went

Here he could just fit in with other great players and on a team where u cant double him :ohlawd:

:manny: He has a point...Roy knows he needs a certain type of player..yet he recruit outside of what he needs...

Roy couldnt make the tourney in 2010 with this roster.

Ed Davis
Larry Drew II
Marcus Ginyard
John Henson
Leslie McDonald
Dexter Strickland
Deon Thompson
David Wear
Travis Wear
Tyler Zeller

this is untrue.

the A-10 had 4 teams make the tournament in 1996

well looking at the 1995-96 season, um yeah it was kind of hard.

Kentucky, Maryland, Wake Forrest, Boston College, Syracuse, and Louisville were damn good teams back then. Plus the A-10 was the best non-BCS conference.

they were decent to good college players, but thats it.

Calipari had that UMass team looking like a juggernaut

yeah but that team was not bad tho carmelo was mvp of the a-10 tourney tho that team was full of upper classmen

yeah i did devalue the competition they played forgot the did beat kentucky who was #1 at the time

i just felt the a-10 besides temple the other teams were decent

forgot that mike jarvis coached george washington or malik rose went to drexel

:whoa:

half that team were freshmen and only returned 1 starter

not every team can be Duke and keep its main core players all 4 years :troll:

tough talk coming from a school that setup fake classes for it's athletes and paid 100s of thousands of dollars to Tyler Zeller's mom for doing nothing. Not to mention Roy holds his players back and encourages them to stay multiple years even when they're ready for the NBA and even when it will hurt their draft stock. We're a players first program and hide ya recruits cuz we're taking all of them out chere..better hope more 5* in-state talent comes along :umad:

:birdman:....Tyler Hansborough's mom, not Zeller's. And Roy actually still recruits like most programs that want to maintain consistency ala MSU, 'Cuse, and Duke. These coaches still recruit "foundation" classes with guys that'll be there a few years. Not everybody that walk thru Carolina's door should bounce for the league early. Henson, Kendall, Barnes, Zeller, Danny Green, Hansborough, etc all benefited from staying at UNC. Roy develop players that want to develop. A lot of what transpires in a kids college career has to do with them. Just because a program isn't a one stop AAU shop, doesn't mean the coach is doing the players a disservice.

yeah, that period from like 92-96 was the A10's golden period. They had a lot of good programs.

bill self did it in kansas in 5 years:myman:

The same Bill Self that couldn't even win Coach of the Year in the Big 10 while posted in Illinois? He magically became a great coach when he got to Lawrence or do you wanna continue like an adult and realize winning a ship isn't the end all be all to being a good coach?

Ah that's right, my bad. I don't have a problem with that recruiting style, cal is doing that more now after this year. Saw absolutely no difference between Barnes in his first and second year. Barnes was so hyped out of high school it was ridiculous and he stayed two years. Look at mcadoo. Killed his draft stock for next year. Barnes is a one year player under cal.
