Couldn’t even enjoy Cade shooting well because this team is devoid of wing depth and despite weaver being addicted to lotto pick big men, zero defensive bigs when Duren goes out

Also their addiction to big men bleeds over to stew being forced to play the 4 when logic says he’s a small ball five himself. It’s pathetic the roster weaver put together.

Monty Williams lost alot of respect as a coach. Incredibly overpaid, doing nothing as a coach + bad roster construction from GM. But sorry even the weakest teams on paper manage to win a game here and there.

This is a scam.

He never wanted the job anyways and only took it because the Pistons upped the pay. Even if he gets tired, it’s still a W for him as he’ll still get his bread in full one way or another.

This is george karl/larry brown/doc rivers all over again. Coaches who didn't want to coach anymore getting paid to coach.

Dude got to be way better than this. That's not someone you want to trust the franchise keys to.

Like I said earlier, it'd be like building around Khris Middleton. Pistons need to find a true #1 option, not build around dude.

This whole situation was doomed from the start

”Monty” didn’t even want the job they forced him to take it by offering him a ridiculous contract

He basically got a player’s contract

He wanted to take some time off and the Pistons was not taking no for an answer and took it clearly only for the money

Horrible situation all around

Only way the Pistons going to turn this around is they need to find their true #1. Whether through free agency, this draft, etc.

That team getting "good role players or supporting cast" won't win in the modern NBA. Teams are too stacked night in and night out.

Their core is simply not top-heavy enough to compete in the modern NBA.

I'd target Nikola Topic this draft. Don't make the same mistake the Suns did by skipping on Luka because they have Devin Booker as that backcourt most likely would've won something by now.
