But ain't the important rating the Fox channel rating and not the FS1 for Smackdown? Why would Fox be upset at WWE for decent ratings on their subpar channel?

They are still doing damn near great on Fox.

The only real thing that should ever matter if they were going head to head, and AEW continuously beat SD right?

You're making too much sense breh, this isn't about what's logical. This is about AEW fans sticking it to the man in their minds and creating narratives to crown themselves number one.

They're in 83 million homes. That's still quite a bit. USA is in 90 million and TNT in 89 million. I don't think the 1.2 million regular Smackdown viewers who didn't watch don't have FS1. I may be wrong but that's hard to believe.
Just because a channel can be listed as available, doesn’t mean people have it. For example, FS1 is technically “available” for my moms house and Cox carries it, but since it’s not in her cable package, she doesn’t have it. You have to upgrade to the sports package.

Even with the comparison between TNT and USA, go into any hotel room in the country, practically all will have TNT but not all have USA.

I just can't believe 1.2 million people were to dumb or poor to find Smackdown. It didn't move to a different night or time. It was on at the exact same time as it always is. Shouldn't be that hard to find. I can press the mic button on my Xfinity remote and say FS1 and it'll take me straight to that channel. 1.5 million watch Raw so not having cable can't be the reason.

To be fair, most folks are too lazy to find change into a schedule. If they don't see Smackdown or Dub on the network at the regular time, then they will watch something else. Then you got to factor most people are out on the weekend, while others are working.

These factors in itself along with FS1 being the WOAT channel for anything sports related is a recipe for disaster.

Thankfully, both promotions got the numbers despite them being lower than usual:francis:

I never been in a hotel that doesn't have USA and I travel a lot for work.

FS1 is available on most basic cable packages then you want to believe. I've used various cable companies over the years and all of them have had FS1 included in its basic cable package.

As long as Fox isn't looking sideways at Smackdown's metrics, WWE will be fine. Despite its ratings slip, RAW's total viewership still does pretty good numbers relative to the rest of the shows on USA. There's a little more friction with Fox (see their confusion regarding the CM Punk situation and WWE not taking the layup they gave them with Backstage), but seemingly nothing major on that front. We probably won't know anything truly substantive about that relationship until 2023 or so. Same can be said for AEW and WarnerMedia: given Rampage's timeslot, I doubt they're TOO concerned with its numbers right now and Dynamite is a huge hit for them.

Wrestling fans tend to blow it out of proportion because companies, wrestlers, commentators, etc. see it as a major issue. I've explained my reasons for keeping up with ratings in another post in the thread. And, honestly, it can be fun to follow if you don't take it too seriously (which too many fans can't manage to do).

As for demos, I think someone else explained it in the thread, but 18-49 (and particularly 18-34) is seen as the group with the most disposable income and the most fluid brand loyalty due to the average lifestyle of someone in that demographic. Younger than that and you're really in the process of developing your tastes with no disposable income, older than that and you're out of touch with a family and mostly set in your ways. You get the 18-49s, and you've made a captive audience out of an audience it can be hard to do that with for the reasons stated above, among others. Of course, if you're a channel like Fox News (the best shows of which consistently beat every show in their time slots in total viewership), then you're not going to really look for that demo, since they're not that interested in what you want to say to begin with (naturally, they kill in 50+ demos).

I agree people are lazy but it wasn't like it was on a different night and time. It was on at exactly the same time and night it's always on. It's not hard to find and I bet most people with a Nielsen box have FS1.

Demos arent just about the ad rev though its the most important. Its also about how shows are trending in viewership. If its majority older people watching your show it poses a problem for the success of the future. It allows to make changes as needed. Sames as revenue trends

Why are you acting confused that a casual viewer who goes out, does other shyt then makes time for wrestling later might miss the fact that it moved that night? Then he flips through, doesn't have FS1 and boom.
