Basically AEW beat WWE in the 18-49M and WWE won everything else :ehh:.

Can't say I'm surprised.

WWE aren't though.
They likely stacked this show because FS1 is :trash: and everyone knows it. Instead of being happy that WWE are trying more than usual, they turn it into the us vs them bullshyt. Tribalists use the "they only did it because AEW" excuse whenever WWE stacks a show.

Tony Khan frequently fans the flames of tribalism against WWE. He doesn't really understand what made the Monday night Wars special. The general public didn't give a fukk about ratings and demos at the time. This incessant bs just drives the general public away because it makes wrestling look nerdy and uncool.
They have to fan the flames of tribalism though, it’s their whole business model and it’s been successful for them so far. AEW’s rallying cry since day 1 has almost literally been fukk WWE, it helps bring them continued and renewed success to cash in on negative fan perception that the WWE themselves created back during the late 00’s and early 10’s, particularly during the Authority era. Now that they’ve got some principal players from that era like Punk and Bryan it makes more sense than ever to keep cashing in on that negative perception.
But what both sides fanbases need to realize soon is that despite rating and demo talk neither company is going anywhere soon and that one’s success doesn’t mean the others failure and Vice versa. There’s enough market room for both to thrive and survive, and sooner or later everyone is gonna have no choice but to accept that fact

Wait can someone explain something to me. So I know 18-49 is a key demographic, but why isn't 12-34 in WWE case? Ain't they targeting that group more so than AEW?

I just can't believe 1.2 million people were to dumb or poor to find Smackdown. It didn't move to a different night or time. It was on at the exact same time as it always is. Shouldn't be that hard to find. I can press the mic button on my Xfinity remote and say FS1 and it'll take me straight to that channel. 1.5 million watch Raw so not having cable can't be the reason.

I think 18-49 is the key demo basically because it's about ad revenue, and I guess 18-49 year olds buy the most shyt. :yeshrug:

And the more money the networks can charge for ads, the more money they can pay the promotion when they sign new deals.

Not everyone has FS1. It’s only included in certain cable packages. My parents have Cox Cable and they don’t have it. I have Spectrum and I do.

Don't that just depends on the TV show though? I thought companies paid networks for ads based on what is running at the time.
For example ads placed during Soap Operas seem to target the 50+ audience, or Saturday morning cartoons would care more about the 12-34 range right?
Idk, shyt dumb fukk Cable TV.:unimpressed:

If WWE is still making up the loss in other demographics while still maintaining somewhat of a decent rating, does it really matter?

the audience definitely matters. Historically advertisers aren't keen on wrestling audiences compared to other live entertainment. There's a reason the NHL bumped AEW to another night even though AEW does bigger ratings, ad rates for NHL are much higher.

They're in 83 million homes. That's still quite a bit. USA is in 90 million and TNT in 89 million. I don't think the 1.2 million regular Smackdown viewers who didn't watch don't have FS1. I may be wrong but that's hard to believe.

But ain't the important rating the Fox channel rating and not the FS1 for Smackdown? Why would Fox be upset at WWE for decent ratings on their subpar channel?

They are still doing damn near great on Fox.

The only real thing that should ever matter if they were going head to head, and AEW continuously beat SD right?
