From the other thread. shyt is so not important :mjlol:

I'm just happy both shows were entertaining.
All ratings are used for is shyt talking. It was entertaining during the AEW/NXT battle. The only people who care about ratings now are the stooges obsessed with AEW. :russell:

As for this topic, It’s well known the E doesn’t get the key demos like they used to. AEW has the juice there. But since it’s the first time the main brand has went against AEW, cats wanna make a big deal outta it.

:mjlol: WWE should just do their own thing and stop trying to go head to head with AEW. When they win nobody gives a fukk, it's expected. When they lose (even the demo), it's a horrible look for them. People keep acting like it's AEW being preoccupied with WWE, yet Vince has gone out of his way to counterprogram AEW multiple times now and it's done nothing to dent the popularity of AEW, which is an L itself, let alone taking actual head to head Ls.

WWE aren't though.
They likely stacked this show because FS1 is :trash: and everyone knows it. Instead of being happy that WWE are trying more than usual, they turn it into the us vs them bullshyt. Tribalists use the "they only did it because AEW" excuse whenever WWE stacks a show.

Tony Khan frequently fans the flames of tribalism against WWE. He doesn't really understand what made the Monday night Wars special. The general public didn't give a fukk about ratings and demos at the time. This incessant bs just drives the general public away because it makes wrestling look nerdy and uncool.

:mjlol: You don't even believe this.

Funny thing is, your avatar is emblematic of WWE's preoccupation with AEW. They moved the show to a different date and revamped their whole shyt because of AEW

Why not go 3 hours with the last hour head to head? :yeshrug:

USA thought they were getting NHL and moved NXT to Tuesday and it fell through right as they moved. Now TNT got NHL and Dynamite gets the bump to Saturday's when it's on Prime Time.

Revamp was necessary to bring it back to what it's always been, developmental.

Steiner math at its best folks

Do you really think that the pool of dedicated wrestling fans is that large in 2021? This is not 1998-2000, where wrestling is a massive, global media phenomenon. It's on the upswing again, but let's not act like that margin constitutes a significant difference in households for the purposes of a wrestling discussion.

I don't know why you guys care about how many people are watching. You can spin this shyt in AEW's favor or you can spin this shyt in WWE's favor.

The fact of the matter is, the quality of the show (for at least one company anyway) has improved so much that I can't help but make room in my schedule to watch it every week. The fact that both shows are trying to step their games up shows what's been missing the last 20 years.

Personally, I appreciate it when shows and angles I like do well in the ratings/PPV buys/attendance/etc., because it means that I'm likely to see more of said show/angle, or at least something like it. It's recognizing the relationship between me getting what I want as a viewer, and the interests of the actual stakeholders in this game (advertisers, networks, etc.). They have to play the game if they're going to give us what we want, so if they're putting out good content and benefiting from it, that's good for all parties. It's worth following for those interested.

:dwillhuh:I swear everytime I think about FS1, I think about Bundesliga when it was popping on Fox Sports. Sadly it got ESPN'd and I'm sad :mjcry:

But yeah, both promotions played themselves because FS1 is a garbage channel and AEW was on garbage ass times.

At least we got Bryan being a whole entire bloodsport spectacle out of the mix.

Ratings talk will never not be :russell: to me. Let's make it a thing when TV networks begin new negotiations with these promotions, at least by that time it would have a legit purpose.

Going over fukking demos, total viewership or how many homes a channels get to is fukking stupid. The TV networks are happy with their wrestling, we'll see HOW happy in a few years but anything else is just annoying noise that fuels the worst type of stan wars :camby:
