I'm a realist. You're 56 years old and out of touch with reality. killings in th 90's and killings today aren't apples to apples.
90s saw more deaths than the opps shyt youre speaking on.

How does your point then make sense? It doesnt, and youre a midget Peruvian who I guarantee is more removed from the Black community than I am. As if I and my Black friendsndont have college aged kids for your limp hair ass to think you know than me.

Black Women havent been “propped up”’more then men. They just were set for the changing world than Black men.

Black men came up in this country still have the mindset of my father in law who finished HS, came up north, got a job as a bus driver and on his salary was able to buy a home and take care of his family. Black men historically made it in this country through the manufacturing industry while the only alternative for Black women other than being a domestic was to go to finish school. The manufacturing sector in this country has died since the early 80s and Black men collectively have yet to make the adjustment. Meanwhile, Black women, who if even raised in the hood would outpace Betty from the trailer park, kept plugged along at school and are see the results.

William Julius talks about this in his 1996 book “When Work Disappears” and foresaw the despair of Black men that would result.

He predicted this…and here we are
Hm you do make solid points but you have to agree that we aren't seen as a group collectively someone that needs help. Even Kamalas agenda mentioned girls/women 64 times. Boys/men maybe 4 times.

education is down across the board

so is reading level

but this hurts us more because we're towards the bottom for a lot of other things

Meanwhile we've got Trump gutting the department of education and republicans trying to push this private school school voucher thing to siphon resources away from public schools. shytty teachers, shytty books, poor pay and lack of resources for our kids

I dont know. Hard to even get enough people 1. aware 2. angry 3. motivated about this kind of stuff

PWIs arent the ones hurting HBCU enrollment. This is something else.

The we dont need college message being pushed by many shyt podcasters is making an impact.
I agree with this. While there are multiple ways to earn a living these days, there are a lot of podcasters and personalities pushing that college (and formal education in general) isn’t important. The statistics continue to show that is not true and that a college degree is still a ticket to a new tax bracket.

Exactly.

Black men over reliance on the manufacturing sector being the way out is also why we are here.

I will never forget when this old black man at some prison industrial complex forum I attended in Harlem got up on the mic, holding a little sweatshirt and said “we used to make these here in this country. It was us… Black men who are making all of these things. And we were able to take care of our families. Guess what? Those jobs are no longer here. And these people have no use for us. And if you black men don’t get it together and push away through school, you are going to see the worst of things.”

It was 2013. That shyt sent a shiver down my spine.

College is not the only way to acquire a career with a decent income. There are apprenticeships programs and Trades that also lead to well paying careers and normally do not incur the debt that going to college does,

So our concern should be based on the why a lot of young brothers are not attending instead of just the fact that they are not attending.

If I'm not mistaken less men in general are going to college

Stop it bro. Those programs you’re speaking on PALE in comparison to when work changes. When the ability to have an income and create a stable family environment changes. No single program has that impact compared to available employment so I really don’t want to hear all that.

Yea, I don't consider anyone on that list a Black leader. I see them more as grifters and entertainers. I am pretty certain that their hold on our people is not as great as it may seem, based on the internet views. I would say far more of our people are not even paying attention to them, then those that are.

I was going to say "podcasting/social media/online busineses" type entrepreneurship is a real thing.

Hell we have kids/young adults making money "chilling" playing video games for money. Should 18 - 19 years olds be considering that full time or just side hustles?

Hard to call it now. They may into entrepreneurship or learning trades. Won’t know until we see the numbers on trades if there’s a spike in that or small businesses

Has a anyone actually talked to young black men about this? Or are we just to be observed and not spoken to?
A young black man I mentor is in college now but he told me living in Louisiana he had a few racist white teachers mainly women that made it hard for him. He also told me that he's generally the only bm in many of his classes and HBCUs weren't as talked about when he was growing up
