So many of these guys are unimpressive yet have a stranglehold on what is considered Black male intellectualism. Its sad.

Its not racist. Inner city kids go to HBCU. If they getting killed or going to jail at high rates, thats going to affect enrollment. everything is not racist. Yall turning a blinfeye to issue just to avoid being labeled a c00n or racist,
Yes, it is racist, because you are assuming that the majority of the college age males in the Black community are out there in the streets getting killed and going to jail at high rates. That is categorically false, yet here you are pushing it still. Just admit you are a bigot towards Black men, and keep it moving, because you know nothing about us at all. All you know is what you hear in music and see online, and you paint all of my brothers with a broad brush from that.

I know better though. So take your racist views somewhere else, perhaps st0rmfr0nt.

Should we be concerned?

Ayyyeeee shouts out to Calvin :salute:

That's my frat bro. Real good bro that looks out for students and looked out for bros when I was at Howard.

I think think the numbers have been declining for a while. When I was in undergrad the chicks outnumbered us 4 to 1.

Look at what happened when Obama made My Brother's Keeper. Also talk to people. A lot of society thinks being male is synonymous with being privileged. We get screwed as a result. I want Black women and men to succeed but you have to concede that women have been propped up more and men have been seen as invisible in our society. Richard Reeves is on the forefront to help young boys and men. Even though hes a British dude, he talks in his book about the experiences of his Black stepson and how that's impacted his work.

Women stick together.

That’s why.

Interesting.

Some concern yes.

Here's the thing...every 18 and 19 year old, generally speaking, should be doing 1 of 5 things, not including preparing to graduate high school....

1. HBCU
2. PWI
3. Community College
4. Military
5. Some endeavor (music, entrepreneurship) that's not filled w/ risk of multiyear lockdown or death

Shouldn't be a single Black Young Adult just chilling 24-7 at 18 or 19 years old or hugging reckless fukkery .... young knuckle heads never learn seem to learn though, so .... :unimpressed:
You are missing somethings on that list. Apprenticeships and Trade Schools exist too. College is not the only way to a decent income, nor is the military. There are a myriad of paths a young brother can go, with some careers paying 6 figures for only a high school diploma. What is important though is that they are well versed in mathematics and reading comprehension before they leave High School. Being well prepared to choose one of those paths that fit them best.

Black Women havent been “propped up”’more then men. They just were set for the changing world than Black men.

Black men came up in this country still have the mindset of my father in law who finished HS, came up north, got a job as a bus driver and on his salary was able to buy a home and take care of his family. Black men historically made it in this country through the manufacturing industry while the only alternative for Black women other than being a domestic was to go to finish school. The manufacturing sector in this country has died since the early 80s and Black men collectively have yet to make the adjustment. Meanwhile, Black women, who if even raised in the hood would outpace Betty from the trailer park, kept plugged along at school and are see the results.

William Julius talks about this in his 1996 book “When Work Disappears” and foresaw the despair of Black men that would result.

He predicted this…and here we are

You're right. I meant to add trade schools.

Yea, I don't consider anyone on that list a Black leader. I see them more as grifters and entertainers. I am pretty certain that their hold on our people is not as great as it may seem, based on the internet views. I would say far more of our people are not even paying attention to them, then those that are.

Not surprising, college degrees are overvalued in general and you go into a ton of debt to get one.

If you a black male (or male in general) you get to college and you are surrounded by a bunch of feminists and LGBTQ who basically signal to you that you are the blame for the worlds problems.

If I had to do it over again, I would went into the Marines and learned a valuable skill. Or maybe become an entrepreneur.

My degree looks good as a resume point, but it’s been worthless to me as far as my career goes.

As a community, we are accepting of a lot of bullshyt. We excuse it and reject our agency as human beings by always passing all responsibility to cacs as if nikkaz themselves don’t participate and collaborate in maintaining the collective condition we currently find ourselves in. The bullshyt we find ourselves in isn’t inherently us, it’s perpetuated by us in service of the group which finds itself in a position of dominance.

That’s how these types of clowns are able to flourish. Many of us have been exposed as emotionally driven gullible fools that will turn a blind eye to the fukk shyt our own folks are doing in the bidding of cacs. We should be looking at all of that as one and the same but we don’t. We’ve been collectively convinced that being loud and entertaining are the aesthetics of a leader in our community rather than someone with actual substance and intellect that has our best interests at heart.

Brother Malcolm would’ve shytted on the vast majority of things most of us covet today. Even the things we try hard to keep blameless because we like it or we’re used to it. Frfr, most of us don’t want to really make that shift to full mental emancipation.
