Louisiana, for example, is using a state run service called LA Wallet.

I agree that there should be a standardized means of id verification across the board.

you are aware that there are adult sites that do not target americans at all right? ad agencies may target americans but overall there is a plethora of adult sites with no business ties to the united states.

how does this ban fare in the when faced with that reality?

All you gotta do is say "the kids!!!" and gullible folks will voluntarily surrender their rights.

This is about the Louisiana law, but it applies to every state trying to pass these backwards laws.

People really shouldn't cheer this on.

Breh people are sleeping on "the earn it act" and if that gets passed. The internet will never be the same. The earn it act is some dystopian shyt

Why stop at porn? We should get a bill to make us verify our age before we watch any violent show on Netflix or TV. Or before we listen to any song with curse words. Music is doing more damage to our community than porn right?

The only content we should be able to access should be rated E for everyone. Everything else should require verification. How does that sound to you coli brehs that support this bullshyt? :comeon:

they tried to ban comic books and require ID for video games.

If those sites aren't in compliance with a given state's laws, those states can just ask their local ISPs to ban access to those sites.

so now the government would be actively building a censorship list. do you not see where this is going?

we'd be joining the ranks of iran, russia and china.

Yea I feel you. I didn’t fukk with porn hub after that. Until a chick I met off tinder who did porn sent me a link to her shyt.

So I looked at the requirements and it didn’t require you to upload a id.

It’s an app in Louisiana called LA wallet which is just your id and at the time your Covid vaxx records

So they just work with them. They direct you to the app and let the app verify if you over the required age.

I and most younger people already have the app so it didn’t make you jump threw any hoops that you already hadn’t done already.
this is the tech.

anyone can use a stolen ID on this app to sign up. :gucci:

grandpa or grandma will probably never realize their ID was used on this app.

it's a money making scheme. digital verification is free but through the app you can renew your license for a fee. they'll probably flesh it out more and make it the defacto app for the state thats privately owned.

I don't think having to show id to access porn or banning traffic to sites that aren't compliant is a canary in a coal mine.

At this rate they'll have us showing id just to buy a damn beer.

:wow:
:what:

If I wanted to buy alcohol or cigarettes, the government doesn't check my ID, the cashier does and they don't record my name, address and the time/location of what and where I purchased it. it's a anonymous transaction. in fact I could go to a deli and pay with a debit card and the transaction wouldn't register as a purchase of alcohol.

the government will know who you are because individuals are literally using a state I.D to access adult websites, they'll know the time you accessed it, your ip address within the state which will also give them an approximation of where you are/were at the time, the government will eventually know what content you view since all these huge sites have previously watch list for user accounts.

this policy is a massive invasion of privacy and they have to know it doesn't work because it's been ineffective in every country thats implemented it. so if they know it doesn't work, to what ends are they willing to pursue this policy?

do you support systems like chinas "great firewall"?

they dog walking people like you into supporting laws that are draconian.

make a better argument.:unimpressed:

:francis:

do yourself a favor and research how these censorship policies and surveillance laws initially become justified.

same way governments used the threat of terrorists to erode citizens rights.

The government won't be "checking your id" when you visit pornhub. There's a simple verification process that tells a site that you're either eligible to enter or not. You'll be anonymous as far as any of these sites are concerned because they'll never have access to sensitive data to begin with.

the coli recommendation algorithm collated those links but i've actually posted threads on internet policy quite a bit beyond porn bans. :comeon:

porn bans are just the wedge they use before they introduce more draconian laws.

The government will have access to this data through warrants or through other means of legal access.:stopitslime:
