If you're attempting begin arguing that a digitally distributed good should be authenticated and distributed the same way as a physical good then you are already on the wrong track.
Digital ecosystems offer fundamentally different issues and solutions to problems than physical ecosystems can.

And let me clarify I am in support of stopping minors from accessing pornography. I can attest to the negative effects it has growing up with parents who are not as technically inclined and knew how to limit it. The solution to do so here has the potential to be used for more insidious purposes.

Digitally distributed goods are already authenticated, the conversation is about age verification when accessing adult materials online. If I want to buy a physical copy of a porn magazine, I will have to provide identification and I wouldn't suspect that it's being logged on a "Matt purchased porn" list.

No this is an extra layer of authentication. When you login to facebook you are being authenticated through to facebook and saying that you are the person who owns this account. When a law like this passes they will add the digital id to the authentication process when you log into pornhub. You can access pornhub without logging in currently. When it passes login will be required. However the digital Id will need to go through the government. You can now have the government oversee what sites you can and cannot have access to. You don't see the problems that can arise there?
