Missy was definitely flopping with the She’s a bytch single/album. I was low key heated when the Hot Boyz Remix was a hit :russ:
I thought she was done :lolbron:

I give you props for being an admitted hater, but being mad that the song blew up because you wanted her to be done is sad no matter how you slice it. The fact that Missy was THAT big of a threat to you speaks volumes. Even Prodigy spit on a song with Missy.

I brought up Foxy because she too was a female rapper who was everywhere. None of her singles impacted where Missy's did. And we can't use this whole Pop rapper schtick because Missy wasn't Pop. She hadn't crossed over. She sang R&B and rapped.

Missy didn't drop "Hot Boyz" twice. The remix was the single. The single doesn't even have the original on it. And LOL at the hyperbole of having 20 people on the song. It was three and for all of them, including Missy, it was the biggest song commercially for them.

And there wasn't a hot boy wave. Master P had a song titled Hot Boyz & Girls an entire year and some change before the masses were even introduced to the Hot Boys.

well r&b rapper. r&b crossover. how about that?
foxy isn't in that lane, and wasn't poppin up all over like her.

actually foxy had a lil hit with "hot spot"
I think people were taken aback by the way she sounded like lil kim.

I didn't say she dropped "hot boyz" tiwice. I said she rode their wave twice. I was referring to word being out that the hot boys were also on her album.

master p made that song a long ass time before the missy song. master p song was in '98, cash money records was taking over for the '99-2000. we need a juvenile smiley.

Breh, there are people who think that about every artist.

her awfulness is on a different level.

and she was too much in the way. it aint like she was in her own little bubble like say a flo-rida or black eyed peas.
and shes still in the way.

Foxy didn't sing, but it isn't like her singles were exactly "Who Shot Ya" Foxy either. They were mostly rap covers of past R&B 1980's hits. It worked in 1996 through 1997, but was dated by 1999.

Call "Hot Spot" a lil hit while calling "She's A..." a flop when Missy's song peaked higher.

She didn't ride the wave twice. She made a song called "Hot Boyz" and she featured two of them on her album. That ain't wave riding.

Good, hope she stays in the way. Matter of fact, you're proving why she deserves to be in the power rankings. If she was "in the way", she was doing something right.

Props. Shows you can be objective. You don't like her, but even you admit she was impactful in 1999.

None of what you said here is relevant because you'd have to apply this same logic to Foxy Brown. It was the same conditions for her and she did 173K out of the gate and ended up selling less albums than Missy overall.
Foxy Brown definitely flopped in 99

Im not into the charts all like that. im more into whats going on outside.

I remember "hot spot" at least being popular. cant say the same for "shes a b**ch.

and yea, that's wave-riding. even if its un-intentional. the hot hoys were the biggest thing going at the time, outside of DMX. theres tons of people who at least pondered the idea of checking for her album JUST BECAUSE of the CMR feature, and the song title salute.
