NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Biggie and Pac are the 2 consensus Goats.

Nas is hardly ever ranked above those 2. Only on the coli is that a popular take.

Not only did Biggie have 2 classic albums, he had classic feature after feature and bodied everything he was on, while also making Kim the hottest female rapper in the game.
Plenty people rank Nas above Biggie. I don’t know where u getting this from. Lol. Pac is a different story but I’ve seen that too. Top 4 rappers between Pac, Nas, Big, Jay have all been scrambled and I’ve seen all ranked above eachother at one point or another.

Above the fray.
The narrative that Method Man's debut album was good, but not as good as it could have been because RZA's home studio flooded, and they lost the original stuff they were working on.

RZA has an encyclopedia like knowledge and memory about music. Meth was THE breakout star of the group signed to the TOP label, Def Jam. Had RZA wanted to recreate the exact same records that were lost, he could have and he had the incentive to do so. They turned in an album that Def Jam was able to promote and sell, but was trash.
It's like the album that never existed, because it never comes up in discussions about the first batch of Wu solo projects.

I agree. I don't think the south killed hip hop, the lack of a regional sound is what killed hip hop. I love wresting. I was watching wrestling in the early 80s before I got into hip hop in 1984. There were a LOT of different wrestling federation and territories as Jim Cornette constantly explains on his podcast. He always says that when Vince Mcmahan killed the territory, that hurt wrestling. I say the same thing about hip hop. Back in the day, you knew the east coast sound, southern sound, west coast, midwest, etc.. Regions didn't have 1 sound because the south had bass, bounce, and others. The west had their gfunk and others. The east had a variety, but we knew.. Each coast had their slang. Now with artists coming out, I don't know where the fukk these guys are from until they state it because everyone sounds alike.
Agreed. And it has resulted in "hip hop culture" and even urban culture becoming homogenized like never before. I think social media has played a major role in this, allowing things to be spread faster than ever. When the Pushing P thing started, everyone started saying it immediately. When certain rappers started rapping about dracos, every rapper started rapping about dracos. When peteks became the thing, everyone was on it at the same time.

Even when Doggystyle was the biggest cultural thing in the country circa 93/94 you didn't see an army of kids in NY/DET/CHI/etc suddenly wearing blue denim jackets, Converse etc and saying cuz, slob, etc.
