The king with 2 albums? how? So are we calling someone the greatest based on potential? None of us here killed him so we shouldn't have to say he is the best ever because he didn't reach his potential..
Yes and its foolish to think otherwise. 25+ years later and his shyt still hits in clubs, radio, whip etc.

He was seen as the better rapper when he was alive

"it's only entertainment"
Man, these nikkaz didnt have to go through no auditions to get into this shyt...you can say that for real entertainment (movies & sports)
"Eminem was never good."

He's fukked up his discography a lot since Recovery, but prime Eminem is one of the best rappers to ever do it. That run from 1999-2003 (SSLP, MMLP, Devil's Night, Eminem Show, 8 Mile soundtrack, features on songs like "What's the Difference" and "Patiently Waiting") is crazy looking back. Encore turning out the way it did changed the trajectory of his career for the worse. :francis:
This one, Em's run thru those yrs was crazy, i thought Em was black when i first heard him

There’s no way you actually thought that. Everyone whose saying that is obviously lying and I automatically assume your white or a black dude that’s trying to cape for him

ima play devils advocate.

What has either done to be considered above Pac?

Not die before they reach their prime or die in their prime.

I hate discussing Pac because I don’t think there’s ever been a rapper ever that has had his ability to emit so much emotion while drawing so much emotion with his voice and music

Through my rear view is my favorite rap song of all time. But pac recorded 7 day theory and died he either could’ve reached new heights or that’s the highest he would’ve been. Unfortunately he died.

Nas and Jay has done so much musically for four decades at a high level

That high pitch whine solo from MC Breed-Aint no Future in yo Frontin in 1991:patrice:

But ...ahh you said DRE just popularized it...so nvm hah.

Off topic as hell... but ts a miracle Dre was able to EQ that sound to be so pronounced...

On a forum I frequented some guy was saying he made an application that could isolate that moog sample:

I don’t care how much he’s played in the clubs. How is someone with 2 albums considered a greatest anything? So if Nas died after IWW(and yes Nas’ first 2 albums are better than biggies 2 albums) would you say he was the goat too? What if Chuck D dies after Nation of millions. Where would he rank all time?

Biggie and Pac are the 2 consensus Goats.

Nas is hardly ever ranked above those 2. Only on the coli is that a popular take.

Not only did Biggie have 2 classic albums, he had classic feature after feature and bodied everything he was on, while also making Kim the hottest female rapper in the game.

No. Y’all pay too much attention to media. I’m born and raised out here kid I know what it is. Matter fact. Nas even broke this down on his Podcast with Ice Cube. It was certain media and certain DJ’s . But most people fukked with other artists from all over. That’s facts. nikkas got mad about getting booed when damn near all of our fav NYC legends have been booed before. It’s a part of the game up here. We boo nikkas. Other states ain’t used to that type of shyt so they took it personal like it was just them.

I've said something like this similiar before.

"THE SOUTH GOT SOMETHING TO SAY!" - Andre at The Source Awards.

Some fantasy kicked off in the heads of an entire region after media narratives that NY booed Outkast for being southerners in this culture, so the South rose up like Colonel Reb and took over hip-hop in spite.

:stopitslime:

Man, GTFOH. For the last goddamned time, Outkast wasn't singled out and booed. The crowd booed because they wanted Smif N Wessun to win the new artist of the year award. If Bone woulda won, this dumb ass take would never have become hip-hop lore, and Bone woulda got the same treatment Outkast did.
