The question is...are the young black males motivated and willing to do these jobs? I can't see too many brothas in their 20s willing to get their hands like we did back in the day.

Some older black men went into the trade fields and some are doing well. I have friend I grew up with whose dad had an AC repair business. He went to college for one year and decided it was best to go to a trade school and work for his dad.

Until black America changes its culture, we are screwed as a people.

Black brothers, don't buy into that myth where you don't need to know math, physics or science.

You gentleman's ancestors discovered it and paved the way for the rest of our species. You built the pyramids, the first ships and first mapped the stars. Return to your destiny.

I know I am, I'm just usually ahead of the curve. The same idiots who tried to clown on me because I was in a community college dormimg on a university campus are the ones with $500 monthly loan payments. :ehh:

Bout to :eat: off these scholarships when a breh transfers.....

P.S. if you're an African American, who's majoring in physics and engineering and you're in serious debt....

You lost. There's an infinite amount of scholarships for these majors....

As for the bolded, its not just brothas but young people in general and its a generational problem that can have long term economic consequences:

you are a dumb fuk, that link doesnt mean black people should study trades, im not saying people shouldnt, but there are shortages in a lot of areas but at the end of day the people with the most education will have the most power and the most money

you have a very limited vision, you are giving advice on how to get food clothing and shelter, not on how to get power and money

LOL at going to trade school. If you are going to trade school just go work at ford and not pay anyone.

These jobs are open at the moment cause no future is in those jobs for the "most" part. If people flocked to trade jobs like dumb women have flocked to nursing you will see a decrease in pay and a fight for those jobs as well.

We need to focus on learning from k-8 first
then understand the sciences

We'd be ahead of the game

he is talking about the long term, something that you seem to be ignoring, there is a limit to how for you can go being a plumber or mechanic, its very hard to move to management or high level positions if you are a trades person or dont have a college degree, which is why its mind numbingly stupid to suggest that black males focus on trade school, you are basically saying that young black males should focus on low level positions in society

TYRONE GA!
Alot of broads flock to nursing thinking it's some easy money (like real estate agents  ), but that shyt is FAR from easy. My homeboy decided to change careers and go into nursing. shyt was almost as hard as his time at GT ( he didn't make it after his junior year there). And more than half of his class didn't make it past the preliminary nursing courses.

I think he is right. Of course everyone can't do it but a lot of people can but they aren't pushed towards it as another option. It is a way of working for yourself and being able to live well if you know how to hustle. Having a skilli is insurance that you can always provide for yourself ANYWHERE YOU GO IN THIS WORLD. I think one of the reason blacks have such high economic problems is the lack of skills and only doing the college hustle which means a lot of competition for the same job and we know a lot of people will not get those jobs and because they have no skills they either have to take small paying jobs with a fixed salary or be shyt out of luck until they can find a job. Jobs that require skills is how my mother and grandfather fed their families and we lived well, not rich but we weren't needing for anything and the same for my mother but she knew how to hustle when customers were low. Having skills also save you money because if you need your hair done or toilet and sink fixed instead of paying someone that money can go to bills, investing or food or buying something you really want. If you have no skills you will always be spending money which means you will always have a high overhewhich means you will always be chasing the dollar instead of enjoying life and/or making power moves.

Lowkey, I hate all these nursing majors. They take up all the spots for my science prerequisite courses.....

. If you have a trade you can always work for yourself. My boy works on cars and he can pull 500$ a day easily.

and start thinking about vocational schools. In the next decade or so when the baby boomers start retiring, there's gonna be a massive shortage of trades skill positions like mechanics, electricians, plumbers, machinist, carpenters etc. Its not glamorous work but u can make a KILLING out here doing this if u got the skills and the certification.

There needs to be a change in mindset among some about this "you gotta go to a four year college"...trade schools, as well as some community colleges are where its at.

I need yall to be good at everything...

I do need more folks who are mechanics, electricians, plumbers, machinist, carpenters...

In addition to folks being doctors, engineers, lawyers, architects, directors, VPs, managers, etc

but more importantly, I need folk to be venture capitalists, CEO, COO, Entrepreneurs, etc
