I don't disagree with the OP as I agree that people really need to think about those trades, but I still think the community college then transfer to a 4 year is the way to go.

Kill it in Community College and you might even get some scholarships/grants to help lower your tuition.

All sorts of options man, just manage your money from the very start and you SHOULD be ok.
