@MattVidPro
Open AI o1 just made me a nice clean physics environment in python. I'm no coder but this is SO COOL!

2/9
@icreatelife
That looks so neat

3/9
@Prashant_1722
Looks great Matt.

4/9
@NaturallyDragon
Rather intricate!

5/9
@caisual_games
Awesome! AI will completely remove the need for coding. Have you tried our platform? You can build web games in under 30 seconds using just your voice!

Oh, and we support multiplayer too ;D

6/9
@ZajcGal
👍

7/9
@cryptonymics
How do you see the output in Replit

8/9
@fabianschierz
nice one. o1-preview is helping me with building a price calculator for a client's website right now. i'm no coder either.

9/9
@Bittelview
How do you implement gpt in to your coder application?

@DeryaTR_
This may happen sooner than even @sama thinks. E.g., I’m about to test a cancer immunotherapy idea that OpenAI’s o1 model gave me last week! While it still requires significant time & effort to carry out the wet lab work, if it works, this would be an incredible AI collaboration!

[Quoted tweet]
Sam Altman says AI will someday be able to cure cancer in collaboration with humans by suggesting wet lab experiments to do and then thinking about the results

2/51
@Blueyatagarasu
Amazing. Would you say it is a useful collaborator for your line of work? Does it seem to have good ideas (even if you haven't tested them yet)?

3/51
@DeryaTR_
The o1 model definitely is capable, but you need to know what to ask and be specific. It won’t come up with great ideas if you just say ‘cure cancer.’ I’ll be sharing some of this soon.

4/51
@koltregaskes
Woah. I'm very curious how you get on.

5/51
@DeryaTR_
👇 I have more strategies too :smile:

[Quoted tweet]
One strategy I’ve found that works amazingly well if you want the o1 model to come up with new ideas is to ask it to think about the potential problems with each of the ideas. Then, have it iterate on each idea & repeat this process, say 5-10 times, improving with each iteration.

6/51
@Jeremy382579523
Curious, how are you going to test it?

7/51
@DeryaTR_
By doing experiments in the lab.

8/51
@AdanBecerraPhD
Surgery already cures cancer

9/51
@DeryaTR_
Oh, really? Then why did 600,000 people die of cancer in the U.S. alone last year? And millions more around the world?

10/51

@HemenJ
please, don't post this stuff before you actually do the thing. If you have already tried OTHER o1 suggestions, then talk about those, but don't talk about FUTURE things you're gonna try and talk about it ultra "hype-istically". Its just social masturbation

32/51
@J65516006
That's interesting. What did you ask it to give the idea?

@boneGPT
4o is so useful as a research assistant for drug synthesis, I've already come up with 12 novel methamphetamine analogues.

34/51
@MarcJ2327
This is already happening; although we are not finding any cancer cure yet, there are models that are already being used to dictate wet lab work.

@JacobColling
Want to see something crazy with the new @OpenAI realtime API?

I integrated it into the Caret canvas and 🤯

(still work in progress, but it's already so fun)

https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1842338483660046336/pu/vid/avc1/1108x720/J1OZ3QKQ3r1wlxT-.mp4

2/12
@JacobColling
FYI this is what I'm building towards

[Quoted tweet]
Announcing Caret:
Caret is an AI workbench for modern knowledge work.

It's a collaborative, infinite canvas with a collection of tools like:
- Non-linear LLM Chat
- GenUI Artifacts with persistent, shared-data
- Workflows blending LLM and API calls

Early access opens next week!

3/12
@VC_cogentia
Looks great. Good demo.

4/12
@JacobColling
Thanks Lorenz!

5/12
@imjacoblopez
so, essentially we can bring anything to life. wrap realtime api to a tree and call it an ai tree, amirite?
geeze, what’s gonna happen in the next 5 years?

6/12
@JacobColling
Its gonna happen! Ai everything everywhere all at once

7/12
@jezell
Welcome to the future. Really changes the interaction model. Onboarding isn't gonna be a few images in a slider anymore.

8/12
@JacobColling
Yaaaa. Need to work on that too. There is going to be a lot of hidden advanced functionality that users can tap in to

9/12
@JustinLozier1
How much did it cost to run the demo?

10/12
@JacobColling
idk for the demo exactly. But I spent like $5 in the process of developing and testing the features. Not even really using it.

It is very expensive right now

11/12
@lukedw888999
I can see how this could be cool for running a company as a workOS with all your knowledge bases and files updating and syncing.

12/12
@JacobColling
This guy gets it 👆

they forgot to add chat search lol

@AlphaSignalAI
It went under the radar but OpenAI released their most performant GPT-4o assistant model yesterday.

- Structured outputs with 100% reliability
- 4x max token (16,384) output limit
- 50% cheaper on inputs
- 33% cheaper on outputs
- #1 on the @allen_ai 's ZeroEval leaderboard

Assistant model means the system message in OpenAI API doc: is "You are a helpful assistant."

@tsarnick
OpenAI CPO Kevin Weil says the o1 reasoning model is only at the GPT-2 level so it will improve very quickly as they are only at the beginning of scaling the inference-time compute paradigm, and by the time competitors catch up to o1, they will be 3 steps ahead

Interested what are the low hanging fruit we think to make thought prompting better??

Retrieval throughout?

Code interpreter? Control over the thought length?

Then training again to expect all the new tricks afterwards?

6/11
@TrueAIHound
No AGI is coming from LLMs. @fchollet knows why.

[Quoted tweet]
DL expert @fchollet essentially says that LLMs are massive expert systems with the same old brittleness problems.

In other words, AI is still in its GOFAI phase and hasn't advanced beyond the ability to scale. No AGI will come from GOFAI, sorry. 🫢

Can you detect the type of plane?

Most people can’t including OpenAI ChatGPT. But guess what, Claude guessed it right in first attempt with valid reasoning behind it. Seems like Anthropic did train its model well.

[Quoted tweet]
The ability of multimodal AI to “understand” images is underrated.

I just took these. Given the first photo Claude guesses where I am. Given the second it identifies the type of plane. These aren’t obvious.

@emollick
One of those "AI feels like a superpower" moments.

I went to an old tweet about a diagram of city streets by entropy, and pasted the scientific paper and image into Claude and asked it to create code to replicate it.

It built the code in one shot, even replicated color scheme

[Quoted tweet]
One of my favorite scientific figures is this one of the entropy levels of 100 world cities by the orientation of streets. The cities with most ordered streets: Chicago, Miami, & Minneapolis. Most disordered: Charlotte, Sao Paulo, Rome & Singapore. Paper: appliednetsci.springeropen.c…

I suspect boundaries of cities are slightly different. Orientation matches but the city extends less far north?
