DOFP is one of the most critically acclaimed comic book films in general. RT is at 91%, aint that many comic book films that rate higher than that.

Well to understand why Superman was rated so high, you got to put it in historical context. It might not seem like that good of a movie now, but when it dropped in the 70s no one had seen anything like it before. They made a man flying look real (for 1970s standards) some of his other superhuman feats looked crazy real to the too.
