Kinda wonder whether a partial solution is taking advantage of network television, if you can. For instance Disney owns ABC. What if they dramatically altered ABC scheduling by adding Disney+ content alongside the sports content that is already there. I see no reason why something like Mandolorian shouldn't be on television. Most people who sub to Disney+ do it to watch 30+ old movies anyway. Pumping up ABC's ratings Mon-Fri seems like an obvious W. In the fall, the football ratings are through the roof. Run promos for your shows and see what happens. MCU shows Monday and Tuesday, Star Wars shows Wednesday and Thursday, whatever else on Friday, football on Saturday.

Even if new eps are available first on Disney+ (at midnight for instance) I don't think it would matter to older viewers, plus there are plenty of younger viewers who don't pay for streaming and would watch. Unlocking CBS type ratings on ABC could completely change this conversation.
This has already happened

Andor co aired on ABC and Freeform because it was doing trash numbers on D+

TYRONE GA!

There’s a reason streaming prices continue to jump. The model is not a good one. Disney and Max have some of the strongest IPs and still can’t get it to work

Anyone with a brain knows this. And Netflix also does movie distribution overseas as well. They were first to market and built not only a national brand but international one as well. They are Gucci. Everyone else tried to hop on the wave and they see it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Better off with cable.

People are not goin to buy every damn streaming service. The copycatting by these unoriginal execs is pathetic. It’s not sustainable and now they all finding out the hard way. Cats now expect high quality at cheap prices and it don’t work that way. shyt was fools gold for everyone not named Netflix.

I hope more big stars do go the indie route. fukk studios. We’ll get better films and overall stories and more money to go around for the creators of the work.

Take back the means of productions.
If they actually make some decent indie movies/shows that people wanna watch, them studios will cave quick

The interesting thing about it is that they should have known that it wasn't sustainable from the beginning because it was the reason why cable was created in the first place.
