This really is a game of chicken and the studios are legit on the losing side. They gonna have no choice but to come to a compromise with the actors and writers. There is too much money on the table. They gonna do it begrudgingly but a deal will be done..

I can just imagine that meeting with them just staring at the executives like

That streamer/youtuber low quality shyt barely registers as entertainment. Mr. Beast has to blow up 17 things in a video to keep the attention of 12-year olds for 6 minutes. Imagine trying to churn out 22 episodes of a 60 minute show.

What's more likely to happen is actors hopping on Twitch/YouTube and taking these streamers' viewers :hubie:

Look out for a Pacino, De Niro, Pesci podcast coming to Spotify :skip:
Those actors couldn't take streamers viewers while working with the Hollywood machine behind them now you expect them to just show up on Twitch and do it?:mjlol:

And actors YouTube channels flop everyday B:mjlol:

The whole damn thing needs to be reset. Everyone has something they need to have changed in order to satisfy the wants of someone else but they are negotiating on different time tables.

They have to do something about the streaming services not releasing the viewership numbers. How can you get paid residuals on something when the entity that needs to pay won’t tell you how much your product is being watched. And on the other side how can you pay residuals if you are still pricing the service well below cost in order to pump up market share. Then how do you raise prices to actual value when the competition is free?

After reading that secret invasion costed 212 millions, the studios really should take a look and how the money is being spend on productions, specially the marketing budget.

If they are afraid of giving more to the writers and non A list actors because of their god Profit, then thet should take a look at the amount of fukking producers those things have.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:

That’s why Scarlett Johansson sued Marvel for putting Black Widow on Disney + around the same time it was released in theaters. Most of her money was based on box office. There was no dvd backend. Especially if it’s on Disney +. And the money you get from streaming is minuscule

The problem is the streaming business model and cheap ass consumers. Disney is charging $10.00 for their content. So their profitability is predicated upon subscriptions. They have 157 million subscribers, but if they had 400 million, they could afford to pay everyone. Netflix has the most, Amazon is second, but they have to pay a fee for most of their catalog. I think eventually, studios are going to start creating their own streaming service (it’s really already started).

Or they could simply add commercials. But at the end of the day, the explosion of streaming has given consumers too many options. There is but so much time in a day, week, year. In the past you had network TV and cable tv. That’s it. Now the number of options have grown 10 fold. Basically, studios could also stop putting out so much content.

Wait. Is your point that physical discs don’t exist, or that the sales are greatly reduced? And are you talking about studio backend revenue, or the actors’?

The ScarJo shyt had nothing to do with backend disc revenue and everything to do with simultaneous streaming eating into the box office
