Sony got 4 multiplayer games in production, deviations game, firewalks game, haven studios
And

In 2018 the PlayStation studio rehired game director Simon Larouche to work on an unannounced title, which is potentially related to this week’s job listings.

The designer has huge experience with multiplayer games, having directed Ubisoft’s popular eSports shooter Rainbow Six: Siege, as well as online modes for Guardians of the Galaxy, Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Killzone 2.

They pretty much just need one of these games to hit to make up for the loss of CoD. It doesn’t have to do CoD numbers since they are getting 100% profit from a first party title and the only get a small piece of the pie from CoD. A multiplayer shooter with sony quality production can and probably will do big numbers.

Edit—-

And i forgot about Factions 2

Sony makes the majority of their money on 3rd party game sales. They can’t/won’t be able to make up the lost revenue with a first party game.

3rd party :hula: solely CoD

Sony can most def make up the sales of call of duty with their own popular multiplayer games that they make 100% of the profit on. Especially if warzone is still on playstation

So you are telling me they are spending AAA budget for three of the same game? Come on man you are a mess

Sony isn’t gonna invest in games that don’t add to their prestige. Have you ever seen sony fully invest in a game that wasn’t AAA in budget? Was Death Stranding a AA game? Detroit Become Human? Until Dawn?

You don't even believe that. Just stop

Yes i do. Fortnite, Genshin, Apex, etc all generate high amounts of revenue for sony, unless theres some situation where all those games leave the platform then sony should start to panic. Just losing the main campaign of CoD isn’t that.

Ya’ll are just in your fanboy hype phase and would love nothing more to believe that this is a move that will kill sony who even after this acquisition is still #2 in gaming revenue. It’s just not gonna happen like yall think it will but enjoy the moment i guess lol

They don’t make 100% profit on them, they have to spend money on developing the games, they could lose money on them.

They don’t make a lot of money on most of their first party games. They are investments to bolster their platform. Not direct money makers themselves.

COD was a free money printer for Sony. They didn’t have to dedicate shyt, but were guaranteed millions if not billions every year simply for existing.

They aren’t gonna be able to make up for that with first party titles period.

Sony only gets a small chunk of CoD money, that is not superior to them having a dedicated 1st party multiplayer which is why they have been investing so heavily in it. You think Epic would toss out Fortnite if it guaranteed they get CoD forever?

Yall are high, there is no situation where it is not far more beneficial for sony to not have all rights to marketing, IP, MTX and game sales of their own IP versus relying on getting a small piece of 3rd party

The “small chunks” of 3rd party money is where the overwhelming majority of their income comes from.

COD and overwatch are two of the biggest money makers on PlayStation.

Without them, their revenue drops in a major way.

They can’t just recoup that by making a couple titles. shyt don’t work like that. Even their biggest and most successful games don’t bring in the money they get from a COD game.

Fortnite makes money like Sony wishes they could with their titles.

Epic and Sony’s business model are very different. They make their money of fortnite period. Sony makes their money off fortnite(and other titles like it)

The question should be would Sony throw one of their First party titles in tne bushes to ensure COD stays on their platform and the answer would be a resounding yes.

They spend millions every year just to put a PlayStation logo in COD commercials.

You don’t understand the business,

3rd party sales is how Sony makes money.

They could stop making games today and their profit wouldn’t change much.

Start taking titles like COD and Fortnite off their platform and their cash flow is neutered in a real way.

There’s a reason Sony stock reacted the way it did with the news.
