Im sure 3d world is fun but it damn sure aint innovative.
Games get criticized for being rehashed, too easy repetitive and not bringing anything new to the table all the time.

Because those things aren't true.
All 3d world is doing is adding wrinkles to the 3d mario platformer.
Its not like this has an intriguing story or some type of XP system of some shyt.
Its just a 3d mario platformer.

I think most of the games that catch flack for rehashing is because the games are usually made with the same engine and template as the previous games, whereas Mario and Link are reused characters but the games are built from the ground up almost every time. That's the difference. And the same template is often fine for a sequal or a trilogy but after that it begins to wear thin.
This is also the reason the new super mario series is catching flack, the gameplay is good but the template is wearing thin. Nintendo aren't exempt from criticism it's just that they often try to present a different art style or gameplay element for their major titles. So where other games are called "rehashes" it's because they often feel like simply a graphics upgrade or some new stages, but not like a new game. Whereas Nintendo might rehash characters but the game plays different from the previous one.
And the lack of criticism is the reason nintendo games progress slower than other devs.
