I grew up about 10 minutes from where he came from.

Us suburban safe negroes get hated on for success and that's fine.

I'm not going to hate myself because I didn't grow up dirt poor

I don't think anyone has an issue with Travis because he's safe and suburban.

Moreso because he's a bland amalgam of all popular hip-hop - and is successful because of his connections (and maybe some early-career theft).

Not to hate dude, but he started off as nothing more than an ASAP Rocky knock off. It’s CRAZY to me how nobody commented on how this cat completely jocked ASAP Rocky’s whole dark skin, braids, weird/hood nikka persona. ASAP patented this dudes style with his first mixtape Livelong ASAP. Yet the white media promoted him like he was the new coming.

Explicitly a clone of Rocky. He's also been accused of stealing content since the beginning of his career. That's actually how I heard about him like 7-8 years ago.

Never heard him rap about his educated and financially well off family ? Why is that ?

it's mad confusing to see the reaction on this site to this when all i've read is individuals saying that this type of achievement is what more black folk need to strive for, in a variety of industries

A lot of y’all complain that women want Tupac in a business suit but that’s who a lot of y’all look up to and want to be as well based on what some people are saying in this thread.

The truth is that when you hating on a brother like this you’re just projecting your own insecurities. Of course his success HAD to come from having well off parents or the Kardashian stimulus because if he came up “normal” or poor like you then he’d be just like you, living a normal life. Well that’s bullshyt cuz it’s plenty of hood nikkas who made it too. I’m not even a fan of this motherfukker but dude is clearly very smart. One of the most underrated parts of being smart is being able to set a goal, know what skills/drive/knowledge/connections it takes to get there then executing. Dude had some advantages, yes, but clearly he did a lot to shepherd his own results.

And again, I think his music is trash but he knows his market and the appeal and is taking advantage of that knowledge without compromising himself or his community. I can’t ever hate on that, in fact, I salute.
