We can agree to disagree, but not a lot of artist are pushing the boundary sonically like he is, he comes out of left field like his mentor and idol, yeezus and cudi respectively. He may not have a album as lauded like a MBDTF or MOTM but you can’t deny the highs on his album and the intricacies of his music and before either of you start no I’m not talking his lyrics.

He’s the safest choice. His music, though repetitive as hell after “days before rodeo”, easily becomes an earworm if you play it enough.

He has the veneer of a counterculture figure but he doesn’t actually stand for anything or say anything. You know there isn’t going to be any variety, you know he’s going to be on the radio and at festivals. He’s probably king of the “vibes” artists.

He’s the perfect product to sell to kids and college students who want to feel like they’re being rebellious without actually doing anything rebellious.
