I’ve never seen a hip hop superstar who’s more bland and obscure than this dude. I can’t name a single song of his. On the surface, he’s obviously famous and successful, yet it comes across as artificial and inauthentic, unearned and pre-packaged.

To his defense(and I obviously know who Travis is) we are in a era where music comes and goes quicker than ever(a lot of this thanks to streaming) and songs are like fast food now. Just recently Travis had a song that went #1 much thanks to merch and that’s a big deal with him. Im not sure it lasted there I think it even dropped significantly.
there was a time where because music was a lot slower with how it was processed, you knew who a star was even if you didn’t really listen to him. Now it appears artists could be extremely popular off social media and SoundCloud, and anyone who’s not into that could be like “yo wtf is this?” And artists who are big, use merch/bundles to get the success that it usually takes time to get. So now a song is the #1 song in the country and you probably never heard it once
drake is probably the last rapper where you atleast know one song or a song this nikka voice is on. These nikkas who be having millions of followers just be popping out of the sky.

is this even a solid comparison? they are marketed differently from each other and are different type of artist. Kendrick is marketed as this introspective grounded guy and Travis the rap rockstar.
kendricks has qualities Travis doesnt have and Travis has qualities Kendrick doesnt. they both do. Given what type of artist they are, they have whats needed.Too each its own but I disagree. Kendrick has lots of superstar qualities and Travis almost seems like he’s autistic
