That's like a Haitian claiming to be African

Haitians are of African descent

So I don't see any problem with it

Ricky Martin has Spaniard ancestry and he is well aware of this. Now is he a Spanish citizen, I don't know. But he definitely has strong links to the country.

People need to understand that Puerto Ricans are not racially homogeneous.

I really need to teach you people how nationality and ethnicity work one day. Anyway Puerto Rico is not homogenous. It's not monolithic.

75% of Puerto Ricans identify themselves as caucasian

48% of Brazilians identify themselves as caucasian.

Seems like the Ricans are far more confused.

You ever been to Puerto Rico? I would say white people are the majority there. 75% might be too high of a number though. More like 55-60%.

The labels we have for race were meant to represent people who do not mix. I think as time goes on people are going to view them as outdated and change them.

I think a lot of mixed people are confused because they are trying to fit a circle into a square, meaning they are trying to fit themselves into a construct that wasnt designed to define them and the terms that do exist just seem, tacked on. Mixed, most people ideally want to define themselves as a collective nationality more so a particular race. Thats hard to do in America because most minority groups feel alienated from the term American, which seems to be designed for cacs.

Yes I have been to PR, they have just as many brown faces out there as they have white. The point is, he said Brazilians are more confused when that clearly isn't the case.

They are definitely the dumbest hispanics :heh: you ain't from Spain.

Go to Spain they'll let you know that with the quickness :krs:

Ricans be like "uh huhhh I AM spanish bc I have latino blood" :skip:

why are they so confused? :lupe:
The same reason why some black americans always claim only Egypt as the only part of Africa to associate themselves with when it comes to their roots

I for one have never heard that. Angolans also will tell your ass quick that they aren't Portuguese. Ricans outside of puerto rico know nothing about their history.

You're kidding me right? Brazil has major issues with ancestry, skin color, ethnicity, and identity. You chose the wrong country.

Truth is, this topic is ridiculous because it applies to pretty much every place that has issues with ethnic mixing. So pretty much everywhere in the world.

This is silly.
