U kno its funny. I heard of Xmen as a kid in the 90's (im 30 years old) but i dont remember how i knew about them. No kid i knew really read comics. But once i saw that 1st episode. Wolverine was my fav.

there was a whole "bad ass with attitude" trend throughout the early to mid 90s that swept a lot of media aimed at children. simpsons even made fun of it with poochy. sonic the hedgehog had some specific appeals to this through his "bad attitude". you could pretty much stick some dark shades, leather jacket, or spikes on a character and it would be sorta popular with little kids.

in today's world, emo is a bit more desired than badassery
