Why is Michael Jordan generally considered to be the GOAT? What would you say to persuade me to believe he's the best if I don't think so? đź«

I disagree, if Wemby grind through the ups and downs and then ultimately wins 7 straight with the Spurs as the leader/best player he would overtake MJ as the goat. No one as overtake MJ yet cause they haven’t done what MJ did. You gotta walk the stairs to the top floor instead of riding the escalator

Nah, some deluded folk would say the league is weak sauce now and Jordan would have won 9 straight championships today.

MJ is the perfect player.
This one sentence invalidates everything else you said as subjective, hypocritical bias, as these five words are so obviously untrue...
Michael is the GOAT. Period.

He’ll never be surpassed

Lebron has the greatest claim next to Jordan, then Kareem, then Kobe, then Wilt, then Magic.

But what they all lack is the combination of mystique, expert marketing, and TIMING that Jordan had. The mystique and timing factor isn’t fair, but it is what it is. Lebron gave it a good run, better than anyone could have hoped for a potential usurper but ultimately Jordan is THAT dude and always will be
No one else will have that timing but that doesn't mean no one else can surpass Mike. Bron leapt over Mike in 2016 as far as I'm concerned. I don't need a guy to match Mike's titles to surpass Mike, or have his mystique and right place/right time quality because those characteristics will never be replicated...
Not reading all that.

MJ is the goat - there is no debate here.

Who is #2 all time - that is a debate (it’s Kobe for me)

Also “Via: Quora” means “white boy’s opinion”

Be careful @TAYLONDO SAMSWORTHY people might thing you believe that nonsense.
There is no objective argument for Kobe as the second greatest player ever. None...
MJ was far and away a better defender.

LeBron has never averaged more than 1.1 blocks in a season. In 88 Jordan averaged 3.2 (three x as many) blocks, at 3 inches shorter than LeBron.

LeBron averaged over 2 steals per game once (2.2) Jordan averaged over 2.5 steals per game 3 times. (2.9 steals in 88)
Prime for prime, peak for peak, LeBron was a better defensive player easily...
LeBron (who’s in my mt. Rushmore so no hating) has been the face of Nike basketball for the past 20 years. He had enough time and resources (I’m sure Nike’s marketing budget is many times bigger these days) to surpass MJ in everyone’s eyes if Nike’s marketing power was what gave MJ the advantage.

So I just don’t get the “Nike Machine” angle - it’s not like Bron’s been a LiNing athlete all his career. And outside of Nike, LeBron had plenty of and still has big name endorsements and even has I believe a deal with Audemars Piguet, a top tier luxury watch brand and worked closely with high fashion brands like Thom Browne whereas MJ’s endorsements never went outside of everyman brands like Wheaties, Gatorade, and Wilson so Bron kinda has an edge there when it comes to cachet and prestige of the brands he’s associated with.
You're playing...
BUT THE FAKE GOAT TALKS STARTED DUE TO THE COUNTING STATS BASED ON LONGEVITY

NOBODY WAS CALLIN BRON THE GOAT WHEN HE WAS IN HIS PRIME LOL
LeBron entered the discussion as GOAT after his 2013 season, 10 years in. He didn't have unique longevity at the time and he was very much in his prime...

Don't nobody need no 7 rings to pass Mike 🤣 Mike didn't need 12 rings to pass Russell. Your entire Jordan argument is always rooted in the flawed rings talk...

I legitimately believe Michael is becoming underrated.

I understand if Lebron is (anyone's) GOAT. But, Michael Jordan is still the fukking standard.
The standard based on what? Chips? Bill has the most.
Points? It was Kareem now Bron
Steal? Stockton leads all time

Like what standard? Yeah mj one of the best to lace them up. But y’all gotta stop acting like there wasnt basketball before or after him filled with great players.

not going back and forth all day. all ill say is : Jordans game was so “perfect”, it got him to *checks notes* the first round before Pippen got there?

Lebron at his best could take over a game, but was more comfortable running the offense and getting the floor open. His entire game is all about making teams pay for sending two so that’s nothing exclusive to Jordan. Ill give Jordan his props though, his midrange was nigh unstoppable and his FTs were clutch and that’s honestly the only offensive concessions im giving Jordan over Bron. I prefer the game within the game of seeing Bron hunt for matchups and see the entire court vs being a straight scoring god (and i think it brons style is more conducive to winning as well).

And Brons no slouch on defense either. He never won DPOY but his all around game to cover most positions has been vital to his teams (and hes going up against guards/wings whom are twice the athletes Jordan faced). shyt even in his old age he was still finding ways to cause chaos on D this last postseason.
We all know bron got robbed the year Marc Gasol won it(I wonder why🤔). Dude was 2nd team all defense

This may be true that it minimized his Finals losses but I think Bron's Finals runs have never been held in the correct context anyway:

•only 1 of his 6 Finals losses is directly attributable to Bron's poor play. Anyone looking at Bron's history with an objective eye isn't holding the other 5 losses against him, dudes only get on that "he lost 6 Finals" shyt because it sounds good compared to a bunch of players who a)couldn't get to The Finals as much or b)won more Finals with better teams than the majority of Bron's teams;

•Bron got to 6 Finals in his first 12 seasons (50%), 7 in his first 13 (53.8%), 8 in his first 14 (57.1%), 9 in his first 15 (60%), 10 in his first 17 seasons (58.8%), and is still at 10 thru 20 seasons (50%). He's literally spent half, or more, of his career playing in Finals for most of his career. This isn't the characteristic of a loser, and in comparison to Mike (and many others), we saw Mike on squads as bad as the '07 or '18 Cavs and he either couldn't win a single playoff series or even make the playoffs...

I don't know how this gets overlooked in the Bron/Mike comp, Mike clearly didn't have the ability to elevate rosters to anywhere near the degree that Bron did, so in essence what we congratulate Mike for, is being able to stack championships when given the best team in basketball. That's what we applaud him for...

What do you mean by "pop" moments?

There’s always gonna be contrarians but if Victor gets it out the mud like MJ and win 7 chips then he’s the new goat
