Why hasn’t the south created any fashion trends that the rest of us black folks can enjoy?

This is as silly as saying chief keef was the trendsetter for dreads. Dudes was rocking these hair styles in mass quantities before iverson.

Iverson literally joint the NBA with short hair and not a single soul was influenced by Pusha T to wear braids who btw is from the Bronx originally
This thread is about trends that were started. Iverson did not start anything with braids. He added on to the popularity of braids but this dude literally joined the NBA with short hair when braids were already popular

Drafted in 1996 shorter hair. Shoes released 1996.
1997 has corn rows and headband with new Reebok shoes for signature look.
Cover of Slam magazine later tattoos and all. Controversial edgy look and image At the time. High Hip culture aithentic embrace by late 90s turn of millennium.
Wide spread corn row style in Black American males way more than at any other point in US history at that point.

It’s stressful being a New Yorker and sitting in the lab creating trends for the next generation.

When will the south create their own soho and create something that we can all rock and gladly say that this started from Texas, Florida, North Carolina or Georgia?

We have them…. But it just ain’t for y’all.

not to mention y’all climate and weather can’t handle it:yeshrug:

And cornrows were already popular in the 90s before Iverson. Iverson got them because they were popular and because he was a superstar he added to the influence.

We are too busy enjoying our mild winters and affordable cost of living to care about setting fashion trends for harsh winter regions.

True....what works in hot azz Houston during December would make no sense in New York.

By the same token, most southern brehs aren't trying to wear all the heavy clothes and layers that northern brehs wear because it's too damn hot. Ain't nobody wearing fancy sweaters, jeans and Timbs when it's 92 degrees/80% humidity in September.

One problem with people no matter where they’re from is them rocking tacky shyt just because it’s designer. That shyt is wack no matter what it is. It’s easy sometimes to kill them with a Ross fit.
