Why hasn't a shooting guard ever been drafted 1st overall in the NBA?

Pretty sad that you really cant address any of it? Well it says he was a pg so he must be a pg. If you watched him coming out of GT u would know he was never ever going to be a pg in the NBA. He was a player never seen before in the NBA. Whats so difficult about this concept??

Tell us again about how u remember the 96 offseason and jordan to the knicks?:russ:

Man where did this dude come from Iverson was even a pg in college. I point is he was a pg. I also the rumors of mj maybe going to ny were true just like the LeBron rumors. Also in that Draft ai and Marbury were the 2 elite pg prospects. And ai was not the sure shot number 1 because teams were high on Camby also. Once the lottery happened ai was the consensus because the 76ers were set at the other positions.

How old are you bruh

Honestly the 96 off season and the grant hill off season are my most memorable.

Ive already addressed this point. Iverson was a 6' scoring guard. Nothing the NBA had seen at that point. A midget by NBA standards that could score at will like a SG but SG were not that short at the time. Iverson was a game evolution at the time.

The sixers were not sure how to use him coming out and tried to have him play the point due in part cause he was easily the best player coming out that year and philly was not passin on him. Obviously it didnt work with the departures of stackhouse and hughes and needing to bring in Snow.

Some of ya'll have some rigid ass thinking. It says he is a pg so he must be a pg.....NO

Anywhere he went, he would've been the point guard, maybe except Toronto since they drafted Damon the year before.

He played point in high school, college, was drafted to play the point and played the point his first few years in the league.

This cat ain't trying to listen. We know ai was an elite talent but he was expected to be a pg.

:ohhh: Yo that's right! I remember cats talking about an AI/Stoudamire backcourt and how that would work. AI definitely wasn't surefire #1.

But then again, this guy doesn't even know he was a PG so :manny:.

1996 NBA Draft - Allen Iverson Live

In reality, the 76ers decided on Iverson on Saturday, after he made a second visit to Philadelphia to work out for the team.

Earlier last week, the 76ers had two jerseys made up: one for Iverson and one for Stephon Marbury, the other talented point guard in the draft. After the second workout, Greenberg knew the Marbury jersey would not be needed.

Iverson, who said he didn’t know for sure about the pick until it was made, referred both to a new era for the 76ers, a team that has lost successively more games in each of their last six seasons, and to the franchise’s storied past.

No MJ was not leaving the Bulls and was in no way even close to the Lebron situation. You fukkin serious.

I wouldnt exactly call having derrick coleman at PF being set. Dude was coming off an injury shortened season and was traded for shawn bradly from the nets. If camby was that amazin he wouldve been picked but no they picked iverson cause he was by far the best nba prospect. Iverson wouldve been picked by the raptors griz or sixers regardless, even with damon on the raps.

Well the sixers needed a pg, something iverson wasnt so how does this invalidate my whole point? They already had stack at sg who dropped 19 in his rookie year and was going to be a franchise player for the sixers. SO it was between need (Marbury) and taking the best player (Iverson). What dont people get about this. They tried to have them co-exist but we already know the outcome.

Eric snow was brought in midseason during Iversons second year so how did he play point for a few years. Starting Iversons third year, Snow was the pg.

Lets not act like Iverson wasnt a game changer at the time and Nate wasnt close to the scorer Iverson was. Imagine the points iverson would drop during the 70s:mindblown:
