lol, what exactly did son do to be hated so much? i'm not talking about online neither (he's hated on there too), but offline almost everybody who's somewhat of a hip hop head hates him, smh

i was telling somebody that most of our favorite mc's could never make a song as mind numbing as "allure" and their response was "f*ck jay-z, he's wack"

?????? yall gotta stop this mane. you can dislike somebody but don't let it affect your ability to be objective.

His smugness. "Allure" is mind numbingly dull, not piff.

Radio people don't like him because he charges them to be on their show, when he used o beg to get spins.

You're either a Jay-Z fan or you dont care for the guy, does'nt have to be hate. Most people really dont care for the guy.

Roc-a-familia, Crew Love ask Dame Dash :ohhh:

The man has only grown in terms of dislikes and negativity, you either like jigga or you have your own eyes to see things clearly.

If where talking music, but most shyt stems from the man off the mic and what his been doing recently on it like '3 kings' verse or telling people if they touch Kanye he might murk them :childplease:

No, I'm nobody's defender. I posted on sohh but my name wasnt doeboy. The only posts I've read from you are the ones in this thread. I must say, you're a a rather bytchy defensive poster. I mean all of this because I asked you for clarification.

I didn't say that you were a hater. I said that you're probably a hater if you don't see the Jay Z hate here. If you opened a "is Jay Z a c00n, yes or no" poll, I think that it would be 50-50.

definitely doeboy

I was a lurker on sohh for a year or 2, couldn't get on due to registration issues so I couldn't look up anyone posts. Had this thread been replaced with Nas, 50, or Drake you wouldn't be in this thread with the :cape: on. How could you not understand what I said, Jay gets love all over, barely gets hate, and all I'm saying is that when someone gets tons of love, hate comes with it, it happens all the time, look at Lebron, Kobe, MJ, even Michael Jackson was getting hate

Reason why hip hop purist don't like jay is because he's too much about self praise. A lot of mc's are self praising themselves nas included but in the hip hop competitive sense. But with Jay specially since the black album and his return it's like he's trying to convince people he's the best when his clearly not. And he's used a lot a marketing tactics to make people believe it.

An other thing. He always was kinda follow others people blueprint through his carreer. How can you call yourself the best when you never brang something new to the table or on you own.

Wu tang revolutionize not only ny hip hop sound, but only the rap contract deals
Biggie revolutionized the underground/crossover rnb hip hop in NY
Snoop & Dre were the first non sellout hardcore artist to have really being embrassed by the white crowd
Nas revolutionized ny sound flows and lyrics but was also the way to produced an album with the best producers of the moment. And he brought the singing chorusses with iww

By the time Jay came, his association with Dame was a copy of the Biggie/Puff or Pac/Suge kind of relation. His sound was first a copy of rae and biggie plus nas. Then that was diddy, then ruff ryder. He was never the trand starter.
Then by 2001 2002 , people were looking up to him and for the first time he was the one who could lead the way. But he didn't, and decided to retire, leaving g unit be solo on the ny map and looking from far.
Then he came bad trying do his anti autotune shyt but turnig back his vest by, again, follow the tendance.
And now that hipsters are reigning, he's there riding kanye's wave and embrassing hipsters culture, dressing like them. It's like once he was at the front line he didn't know what to do. He tried that grown men shyt on KD, but it didn't go well and was much more himself in AG rooting with his early gangsta shyt

Another thing too, he considerably distanced himself from balck and ghetto culture, his lyrics are nothing remain "ghetto" no more. If he wasn't saying brooklyn from time to time I would nevere guessed he's from there, theses time. All he do is braging about who personnality he had dinner with, who is playing golf with.
There's no more black roots it's seem in him, and I am not talking about gangsta shyt, just about references and balance. Cause the main problem his, his new style of live became all he got to offer right now, kinda like eminem with drugs and hailie and his mother at a certain point

But back to number one argument, his lyrical abilities who diminished are the cause of the problem. It's been years since Jay didn't dropped great verses back to back even just technically speaking. And the capacity to fool people it's what annows the most. He's kinda like Marlo except he accepted to stay at the Levy party and renonce to be tied with the streets no more

Being the best it's not just being at the top and then quit or rely on your reputation. It's to constantly prove you are so even in the long term

:shaq2: Jay-z has so many chilren out here, from Wale to Lupe to Wayne his ''trend setting'' shouldn't be questioned. And fyi everyone, EVERYONE including Pac & Nas have jumped on trend, you gotta get in where you fit in.

I find that when it comes to Jay-z its more a love/hate thing with his image, similar to tupac. Thats a good thing, Icons are polarizing

I haven't insulted you one time, yet you're lying on me trying to make me someone else. "Had this thread been replaced with Nas, 50, or Drake you wouldn't be in this thread with the :cape: on" You attack me then try to play the victim. Talk about derailing a thread. Every post you've directed towards me has been a personal attack. Take your hand off your hips and drop that bytchy little attitude man, it's not necessary.

I don't think that anyone doubts that Jay Z gets love or thinks that he's the only person to be hated on, but you're being disingenuous when you say that he barely gets hate. Basically you're trying to downplay the hate he gets while justifying it at the same time. "uh uh Jay z barely gets hate...... uh uh well his fans are just as bad as his haters because they defend him no matter what....uh uh well hate just comes with territory he ain't the only 1".

:yeshrug: I don't hate jay-z... I don't hate any rapper for that matter

I've never liked his music much on a personal level though I've been slowly appreciating his talent over the last few years

Compare the love Jay gets to the hate and its not even close, I know people who don't even listen to rap but like Jay, due to his business ventures, him being cool with Oprah, Obama, and being married to Beyonce, every time he has an album coming out its an event. How am I downplaying though? Its not the truth? When people are at the top of their profession, its just inevitable for hate to come, I'll say it again, look at the top people in their profession, Bron is considered the king of bball now, and he has as much haters as fans, Kobe has as much haters as fans, Michael Jackson was getting as much hate like the love he gets, do I have to dumb myself down for you to get my point?

This is something thats always baffled me as well how can you be a hiphop head and not like Jay-z but most people who would describe themselves that way hate him. You can't tell me this dudes not nice and one of the best ever it's bizzare.

I feel like it has a lot to do with younger hiphop heads they don't realize Wu and Nas and the rest of the people there fanboys for were pretty popular and big deals at one point they only know them as a little under the radar so thats what they like and hate anyone who is popular and Jay-z is the poster boy for being a popular rapper.

Quite easy, if you ask music lovers not just hiphop heads about certain artist they can tell you why they like or dislike an artsit, mostly goes like this if they dont like an artist :

Nas - Boring
Pac - not lyrical
Jay - ?

Pac and Nas are my top 2 hiphop artist and are in my top lists of musicians, they connect with the listener. I think Pac is lyrical and Nas even i admit has gotten mad boring.

With Jay, he has no connection with the listener is far too shallow. So why would anyone want to support him ?

Jay gets hated because people put him on a pedestal he didn't deserve to be on in the first place. So he's expected to deliver like a legend but falls short half of the time.

But let's not act like Jay doesn't like the hate he receives.
I think he loves having people like Game, Budden, Birdman etc dissing him, cause he'll always send back smug subliminals and on. And he knows that certain cats hate to hear about him winning, loving himself and shyt like that. As far as people hating on him for having some white friends, not being a majority owner of the net, not getting along with his now former friends and what ever the fukk goes on in his personal life that's the shyt I can't understand.
