loyalty before royalty.

But from our perspective shouldn't it be the music before what we think we know about a dudes personal life and business ventures?

Ross is a great example of this

Everyone knew he was cop before, we know what he spits isnt true but he was makin that :krs: music so everyone was like :manny:

i was pollyin with somebody who is part of the wu family on Skype and this dude flat out told me that anybody who likes Jay-z can't be a real hip hop dude because jay-z is not a real hip hop dude. all i could think about was "what the f*ck is a real hip hop dude?". haha.

son is nice, nothing else should matter. jay-z is so naturally nice that even though he's nowhere near as nasty as he was in the midish-90's he can still out-spit most of the game.

I can't dislike a rapper unless his music is ass and he maintains an incredible ego and trolls all the time outside of the booth. Like the past time Lupe Fiasco has been the only rapper I've disliked. If he stopped trolling and stopped bytching for a while, I wouldn't even dislike him. I would just skip his wack music and fukk with the dopeness.

But I won't hate on him besides saying that Lasers was weak and hoping that his next album is better. I won't even read his troll posts anymore. The only reason to why I even check for a rapper I currently dislike is cause he was my favorite rapper for 2-3 years straight. And his peak emcee wise hasn't been touched by a new rapper since he came through, I mean Drake, Cole, K.Dot, Krit and them has touched him musically, technically etc but overall they haven't seen him yet.

:dwillhuh: news to me...from my experiences Jay-Z is prolly the single most beloved living rapper in the world...only rappers I think get more love are Pac and (maybe) Big, and that's because they're dead and basically mythical at this point...or maybe Eminem by greater Cac-dom...but other than that, Jay is held in pretty high unimpeachable regard...I know dudes my age, grown ass men, that legitimately idolize that man on some "Jay-Z is my role model" type ish...most of the hate he gets I think is prolly a function of the overwhelming love he gets, which is kinda inevitable

You either hate or love jigga, that's not the case for a lot of other rappers today (Wayne, Kanye and maybe Drake as well). There is not a lot of fans that are indifferent to jigga like to other rappers. But I'm assuming that this is based of The Coli and shyt, not real life. If The-Coli reflect real life Nas would be 10 times diamonds and Jay-z would be an unsuccessful Justin Bieber. We are talking about the rapper who got 100s of movies of people with thousands or millions of views calling him the devil and anyone who works with him is the devil as well .

LOL. I'm basically just talking about the hip hop purists, that sect, not regular dudes who just wanna swag out and feel cool and sh!t, they worship jay-z. i don't understand how hip hop loyalists could dislike someone who's nice, that's basically all i'm saying, it's counter-intuitive.

Niccas hate on Hov because dude came in the game and did what he said he would. Take it! He made it all about the hustle & forgot about the music at one point.… You can hate on the way he got to the top but he was at one point very nice lyrically. When he decided to take it cooperate as he should have a lot of kat’s who questioned his street cred from the beginning started hating. Yet, the lack of Jay-Z’s is one of the reasons why Nas says HHID. Artist not positioning themselves as Boss’s.. All & all no one likes a shyt talking nicca that brags and backs it up & then throws it in their face but hey… its Hov….The same niccas that hate him made him….

I don't know who is a hiphop purist though, cause all the 80s rappers love Hov.
All these old ass radio station dj's love him and on. There is a certain types of dudes that I've observed that hates jigga. The dude who went to a less than mediocre college and think he's smarter than everyone in his circle who didn't go to college because of that and loves to flaunt the shyt he was taught like a few latin phrases etc. The dumb smart black pride type of cats, the ones who think hit songs is wack hiphop, the ones who hate on him cause he gets more love than their favorite rapper and the most important one the ones that hate people that flaunt their success. Which is understandable, no one likes a person who brags (even though all rappers with any type of success brags about different things from skills, to IQ, to money to broads to street cred, G-ness, streetness, longevity etc). To me they are basically just spitting game, but it might be too much game for some people to handle.

This is absolute bullhshyt.

He puts just as much effort into his music as well as his business side.

To say he doesn't bleed this hip hop sh1t and he isn't genuine hasn't heard Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint and The Black Album.

Jay deserves his props for pushing the hiphop game forward and while making great music he possibly can. you should appreciate him while hes still here. I mean who will ever replace Jay-Z when he gone?

same goes for Nas too. its gonna be a sad day when that happens.

nah, i like jay-z. he has flashes of that old jay sometimes, but most of the time its just B level good enough bars.

im not tryna take away from his legacy, he's just not as good as he used to be, where u could argue nas still is on top of his game.

His stans are the worst to begin with

Self pro-claimed King of rap....then all of a sudden sheep follow and agree (similar to what Lil Wayne did)

Over-rated ... top 5 yes, number 1..no

Often times Jay-Z's financial accomplishments hold more weight than the quality of his music does...some dudes don't aspire to be filthy reach, some dudes just wanna live comfortably...just because Jay sold more and has more, doesn't mean his music is better...people who usually argue this are known as ManFans

jay is the most popular rapper out now, along with Drake and Wayne, when you're that popular you're bound to have people hate on you, it comes with the territory, all popular and critically acclaimed rappers get hated on, from Jay to Drake to Wayne to Nas to Pac, the list goes on and on

Jay gets hated on, but at the same time he has stans ready to go to war for him, defending him no matter what he does, it goes both ways
So what exactly constitutes "defending" someone? "he has people that will defend him no matter what". I have no idea what that means.
