Why did nikkas loves Georgetown so much in the 90's?

Didn't know much about college ball back then. Actually looks like he graduated when I was born so I wouldn't have anyways. I know Mourning had played there too. Looks like it was after Ewing tho. Mutombo played there too with Zo. That was quite the duo there.

I don't know how they didn't do better with these two on the same squad.

I had a pic of the two of them blocking a UNC player's shot at the same time, wish I could find it.

A lodge of the Saints John of Jerusalem
right lmao

dudes stopped rocking Georgetown gear by time Iverson got there.

80s & early 90s was peak Georgetown support from the black community. My pops said it was cause they were seen as anti establishment back then
Yep. Just like the Fab Five. Michigan, UNLV, and Georgetown in the 90s :wow:

People jocking Allen iverson for Georgetown hoops fame. Maybe it was the guys that actually won there that built up the rep :heh:

ya “I know”...read the thread title tho

I’ll admit I was wrong about AI

I’m crediting it to john thompson and the success the squad w/ zo and mutumbo had in the late 80s/early 90s
The squad with zo and mutombo didn’t do shyt. Ewing put them on at national level. Carried them thru the rest of the century off that respect

Iverson wasn’t close to being on the map then

early 90s is when I remember the logo being popular, everything back then, atleast on the west coast, was about being a “G” (Gangsta) and calling everybody “dawg”, and wearing starter hats and jackets, the Georgetown logo just so happened to have an aggressive looking bulldog wearing a G on his cap, in the colors grey and blue :manny: which is why it was a hit

That Iverson crossover :ohlawd:

That whole Georgetown phenomenon had nothing to do with him and just the fact they were a black squad. It was the 90s though, so you had teams that were just popular (Michigan, unc, Connecticut ) even Duke
