There are PLENTY of upstanding men. What you want is for the fukkboys that you like to be upstanding, which aint them and aint never gonna be them.

That's the difference.

You want more upstanding men, start using that as the primary metric for who you entertain.

You can see the priority of the black woman by the out of wedlock stats. If they prioritized upstanding men, the number would be much lower.

1) Allen Iverson influenced an entire generation, so did Deion Sanders - how they played and how they lived/dressed/wore their hair off the field/court. << i'm wrong?

2) The youth today are more influenced by WorldStar/Bossip/Reality TV then they are athletes the way my generation was <<< again, this is false?

3) Steph curry represents the counter culture to all of that. he's a devout christian, husband, not trying to rap or do movies, he's the new grant hill.

I don't have a Huffington Post article written by a 15 year old inner city black kid explaining why Steph Curry doesn't represent him, but what I like to do in these instances is to simply GOOGLE these things. Do it, you'll find forum opinions, comments, it's out there - people are even calling him an uncle tom

It's funny how on this forum we freely talk about how the culture changes among the youth when it comes to sexuality ("all these kids gay!"), but now all of a sudden I need receipts on what I see that doesn't fit a certain narrative...interesting :jbhmm:

Of course Iverson and Prime were two of the biggest athlete "cultural" icons in the history of this country. No argument there. That said, Curry not being in that same conversation doesn't make him a corny, etc. The youth being more influenced by WorldStar (I don't disagree) is more statement on them current landscape than how Seth is viewed.

Steph may not be viewed as "cool" to black youth off the court but using that as a referendum on hwo he is basically viewed as a corny square seems inaccurate.

We can agree to disagree :manny:

Sound Reasoning
I don't believe we need more Ayesha's or more Stephs. Everybody got their own flow, when it comes to dating and relationships. As long as you are doing something positive with your life then cool. Date how you like.

If you ask me I would say we need more chicks built like IG hoes (but naturally) willing to deal with 5'8" financial analysts that hit on them at the club with mediocre mouthpiece. That's really what the game needs.

Dudes in here getting in their feelings but OP has a point, nikkas need to just admit it

Steph curry can ball but he's seen as corny, a lame, not street enough. He's not quite Russell Wilson status, but not far from it

Also, a lot of dudes can't be a "steph curry" even if they wanted to - tats, different baby mommas, uneducated

wait hold up

The "narrative" is women want

bad boys
Money
Pretty boys
athletes
famous men.

Steph falls into 3 of those at least 4 depending on the woman you ask. What makes him corny? He actually doesn't come off corny to me and most people I speak too. Unless corny is being in what appears to be a happy relationship with his girl and kid.

The problem is us as black people is we refuse to acknowledge its both sides.

Black men destroy there young black women while big upping other races at a young age, then turn around and wonder years down the road why they feel and view things like they do. Black women diss young corny black dudes while big upping other races in the young adult hood and then turn around and wonder why years later they view things like they do.

In the mean time, innocent black folk get caught in the middle and eventually choose a side either by force or from experiences.

who perceives Steph as corny aside from a bitter contingent on thecoli mad that he lights their team up? :mjlol:

i get the point OP is trying to make but its really just a very silly false equivalency. i ain't gonna break it down; seems like there's enough fukkery in here anyway :mjlol:

fam....we agree. we're just using different terminology.

The burden of proof is on the person making the argument, sir. You made it.

i already answered this exact same question 3 replies above this one.

There are only 3 types of people that have problems with some of the issues brought up in this thread.

Women who want aint ish men because they like there "swag" and look but aint about that life themselves.

:patrice:she's talking about the type of MAN that steph curry is, his character.
replace steph curry with Grant Hill and you'd get the same question.

yeah they're rich and play ball, but they ain't making in rain in the club, partying until 5 am with rappers and movie stars running through porn stars and strippers (the shyt i'd do).

this isn't a complicated question or topic of discussion, I just think it strikes a nerve in most cats that they don't like.

Did you just happen to miss mine?:mjpls:
And since you're already here, why all the replies in this thread? Given the fact that you're a self-proclaimed good guy and all:sas1:

We want the wholesome quality woman, but girls these days rather thot it out on IG, thinking that some baller will trick on them.

Praised and acknowledged by other black men?:jbhmm:

As a black woman, even though chaste and classy women get some hate from other black women, they are usually admired. That is usually the opposite for men.

For so long the rhetoric has been that women do not want a good, upstanding man. They want the bad boy who will blow their backs out and send them packing. So naturally, men's argument has been to fall in line with what women want in order to get them.

All of a sudden, ayesha curry steps on the scene and it's "oh I want I woman like ayesha", "yall hoes need to be more like ayesha".

Pause:dame:
So now the argument is, "we as men are allowed to have standards and want a woman like ayesha".
Well, where were those standards when you were running through deshawn, eshlawn, lil mamma, and her friends?:dwillhuh:
This new argument is set on the basis that you as a man are the leader and the one to choose.
So if this is the new role black men want to accept, why aren't the likes of steph curry being championed?
Why aren't black men telling other black men to be more selective?
Why aren't black men telling other black men that it's ok to not sleep around?
But ya'll are quick to tell black women to stop being hoes and have respect for themselves.:comeon:
I firmly believe that most of you men using ayesha curry as the golden standard is simply a ploy to support the old adage "men are naturally promiscuous".
From the age of dawn, men have been sleeping with prostitutes and whores but went and found a virtuous woman to marry.
You may want an ayesha curry but that doesn't stop you from sleeping with the kim's, amber's, and chyna's.:shaq2:
Simply put, if you aren't going to be like steph, you shouldn't expect an ayesha.:manny:

the problem with this is.. most females wouldn't even acknowledge you if you don't look or have the status of steph curry (unless u have a lot of confidence) .. so there is no reward in being a "good" man .. you will be used and abused by everyone .. remove curry's looks and talent but keep his hard work and nobody would give two fukks about him

I don't see it.

it's there go look.

but if I posted a comment from another forum where a kid called steph curry a cornball
then followed that up with a youtube video of a chicago teenager going in on steph curry calling him whack and not "savage"

you'd be the first one to say "what's that prove!?" :bryan:

this ain't my first week on the internet fam. agree to disagree w/my opinion and keep it moving.

:dead: You didn't think this through...

You're entire argument is based on complete bullshyt.

Men tell men to do better all the time. When a breh complains about getting with a hoe, we dont console him, we tell him he fukked up
Brehs praise Steph all the time, fukk you talkin bout? :mjlol:

I haven't heard a single person say Steph was doing it wrong by getting with Ayesha. :mjlol:

Why does this feel like a thinly veiled shot at Ayesha Curry? :ohhh:
