From a French black man.

Black Americans so often want to impose their limited idea of 'blackness' on everyone, going about the world looking for racism. "Is this place racist, is that place racist?" Places aren't racist. People are & no group of people represent the entire country. Racism is just discrimination. One type of discrimination is no more worse than the other. Everyone faces some sort of discrimination everywhere. If a white guy is told, 'Go away, Gringo,' he's not gonna let that guy (or a handful of guys) represent the entire country. Folks were doing 'Kick a ginger' in The States a few years ago. So, the whole idea of, "Is a country racist?" is juvenile & racist. It's just looking for problems. Black Americans should stop assuming all blacks are alike or have the same experiences. I think a lot of black Americans are scared to travel because they listen to things like this. When I travel, folks tend to respond to me as an individual, based on my dress, accent, presentation, nationality. In the end, there is no singular experience that blacks have in Paris. Don't listen to any body tells you about what it's like to be black here or there. They only know what it's like to be them.

and just about every single black person that has traveled abroad will echo this notion.
