Why are black people in south/Latin America completely missing from their society's public sphere?

^^^ feel free to step on a plane and go there yourself then.

That article is not written by a brazilian.

you have zero evidence percentage wise that african americans are more represented in media than negros and prados in brazil. you haven't even seen more than 5 brazilian movies yourself. :snoop:

:what:

The author of that link is an AA

I dont know wtf tokenism is. I am just a dude that travels the world, meets a lot of people, and asks a lot of questions. I never go to a place thinking I know it all. I go there ignorant, and get educated by asking questions. I then relay said information, back home. whether you want to take it, is up to you. If you don't, get on a fukking plane.

If I were you, I wouldnt go to brazil thinking you know everyting and telling people "NO no no thats not true" because you'll just come off like a typical arrogant gringo...you know...the term they use for white people that do the same shyt you're doing. Thinking they know it all because of a couple of articles they read. I made that mistake once, at a very young age, and upset a group of people, I'll never do that again.

I actually got pissed off with some europeans last week at the bar because they had the audacity to be like "I wanted to ask you a question, no offense or anything, but do you own a gun? we here all americans love guns". :snoop: fukking idiot. I already know this fool saw some stats online, newspaper etc etc. and now thinks he knows the U.S. without having step foot in the country. That's what you're coming off like right now.

Motherfuker, you posted the link not me, did you read your own link before you posted it? Or were you just on a desperate google search to find something to support your gibberish but couldn't find anything so you threw that link thinking nobody would actually read it?

It doesn't matter who posted it contradicts what you are saying, it shows that the situation with black Brazilian actors is worse than in the us

Your argument isn't even coherent, first you deny that there is an imbalance than for some strange reason you have a million excuses for the imbalance

Your deaperation to cape for the fact that Brazil is more racist than Hollywood is hilarious

Um no nikka. Like I said the fukking author is AA making the same assumption as you, of course I read the fukking link. I'm th only nikka in here providing links.

You made the claim, but cant provide any links? I'm going based off a handful of experiences going to the actual country, so if anyone needs links to support this "AAs have it better than Brazil in the media" it would be YOU. Ive already given my explanation based off various observation AND brazilian accounts (how do you think I was capable of pulling up some of those names so quickly?:usure:) I had another tab open asking various questions to brazilian friends and fact checkin myself.

knocks: What's Ramos last lead film role?

knocks: Who's the Halle Berry of Brazil.

knocks: how many stations outside of news do you have?

Most shyt I knew, but other shyt I asked as reference. but hey man, right, you know more.

have you even watched those 10 brazilian movies? talking all that fukking bullshyt, dont even give a shyt about the country, talking like a fukking expert, still aint got off his lazy ass to see for himself. you a fukk nikka. think whatever you want about a country you'll never go too. it doesn't do shyt to me, or brazilians and you'll just spread the shyt like you know something when you dont.

this my last reply to you.

America, for better or worse, has historically spent a massive amount of it energies focused on racial issues. We've taken some steps backwards and also made massive strides towards equality. Much of the world is playing catch up on race matters.

From personal experience, I can't say that Latin America is more racist, but I can say its as racist as the most racist places I've been within the US. My first work trip to Mexico I was repeatedly taunted and referred to by racial slurs by villagers who were working for a sub-contractor on a construction site that I was helping to manage. The villagers were themselves treated like shyt by their taller, more Anglo-ized employers, who were also treated like crap by their taller, skinnier, more Spanish bosses. There's definitely a caste system in place based on complexion and ethnic makeup.

Motherfuker, are you retarded, again, YOU POSTED THE FUKING LINK, the link contradicts what you are saying

You are literally arguing against the link that you posted :mindblown:
I've seen some stupid shyt but I've never seen somebody write an essay to argue against a link they posted

The proof of Brazilian racism is in google, I'm sure you have been googling shyt all day tryna find something but you quest failed because all evidence points to blacks in Brazil having it worse than American blacks

And for the record this convo just happened to devolve into media and film but the op includes politics and business

The other stuff you are writing makes my cringe at the level of corniness, you are here talking about watching some Mexi mestizo exploitation film, something we have been off since the 70's as proof of diversity in Mexico, that's stupid, just like it's stupid to use city of god and it's derivatives as evidence of lack of racism

You are using a type of logic to defend Brazilian racism that no black American would accept, you talk like some white American tryna explain why America isn't racist

It's embarrassing that you would go to a foreign country repping black Americans, for the love of Harriet Tubman please stop

You dumbmutha fukka I posted a link in response to the thread title. No movies with black people? That other idiot said they had no movies, I posted a movie with a loaded cast. do you want me to send you 3 from this year? I can if you want.

Im going to say it one last time, the idiot from the link is an AA making your claim, but SHE is the one contridicting herself. She found a slave movie and is trying to make a point, while failing to realize there are LOADS of movies with black people. I mean god damn muthafukka how stupid can you be. I didnt post the link to state that brazilians have no movies, but rather, to show you there ARE movies with all black casts. had the person in the link known to do further research she'd realize there are actually WAY MORE. but of course shes american and has no idea how to find them.

nikka I don't need to google shyt, all I have to do is PM a brazilian. how about you do that first.

and who the fukk is defending brazilian racism? you're the one defending american racism by saying "at least its not brazil tho" :mindblown:
BOTH have limited black media represented in actual ownership. How many black people own these studios? NEITHER. but to state one has more media presence than the other, when one is fukking hollywood, is fukking stupid. Hollywood is a multi billion dollar industry, and you're arguing why there's not the same amount in quantity? are you fukking serious?????

HOW THE fukk ARE YOU NOT GETTING THIS POINT WHEN 3 OTHER POSTERS HAVE EASILY FIGURED OUT WHAT IM SAYING. no wonder nobody goes back and forth with you, you literally block out any logic just to 'attempt' (which turns out to failing) an argument. Youll literally drag this out, instead of being intelligent and downloading the last top 5 brazilian movies. You're STILL not going to do that while trying to come off as an expert in brazilian cinema. :snoop:

I stopped reading 5 pages in. This back and forth is mad corny. I just want to know the bottom line: Can a black person move to one of these South American countries and have a good life?
@Malta already did, he loved it. I plan to retire there and at some point in the near future move. Brazil has a pretty good size black american population that have emigrated...actually alot of americans have jumped ship down south to mexico, costa rica, ecuador, and brazil. the Brazilian govt had to put that visa on us and put strict immigration laws it was getting bad. Brazil has a lot of faults, but damn it be like paradise sometimes :wow:

''apparently Larry Lobster lives in Brazil" :rosslol:these the type of nikkas I'm arguing with :wow:

1. The link you posted contradicted your assertion that black Brazilian film presence is similar to black American film presence

All your gibberish isn't gonna cover that up

2. Here, have a cookie, you have shown that black media presence is not zero. That still leaves the question as to why a country with more black people than the us has less black presence, not just in media but in business and politics

3. You know and I know that you have been furiously searching google to find a link to bolster your gibberish and you have failed, just about all sources suggest racism in Brazil is the same or worse than in the us

4. The actual number of films is irrelevant, the issue is PERCENTAGE, math motherfuker, do you know what that is?

5. How many times are you gonna say you aren't gonna reply?

It is like Europe, your American origin and education will take you quite far in these nations. Hooking up won't be too much of an issue especially if you carry yourself with "education" as Latin Americans say.

reminds me of when americans are on here telling me about africa, and then pull up a bunch of cac articles. :heh:
basically. he knows fukk all and cant produce any numbers or percentages, dry claims with no proof. its what americans do. they know about the world the least, but act like they know about the world the most. pretty embarrassing actually. ask him to pull up percentages that show there's more blacks on tv in america than brazil, and he can't.

but im able to show the top movies this year and them all having black characters, and thus contradicting the thread title. see the difference?
