The interim champ should be one of three people: Miro, Eddie Kingston or MJF.

Miro because he can just recreate his dominantly entertaining monster heel TNT run with the world title.

Kingston because his whole underdog making good story is super compelling and winning the world title in less than normal circumstances would be a good culmination of that story.

MJF because his current disgruntled employee storyline would become even more interesting if he were to become world champ.

Jay Lethal and Bryan Danielson had very entertaining runs as world champions, so I'd love to see either of them win the strap.
MJF is red hot and has people talking about AEW.
Either of those three guys can have good matches and promo battles with the returning Punk.
Tony Khan loves Adam Cole though, so who knows?

Doing the Mox vs Tanahashi match seems too obvious with the way this is set up. I hope they don't do it, Tanahashi vs the winner of the battle royal would be my choice.
I don't see Goto in that spot so Tana is the only option on the NJPW side.

Adam Cole is more relatable to guys who got stuffed in their high school lockers.
