And just to speak on, but "who tried to copy them":

J. Cole counts Eminem as an influence on his style. Does he sound like Em? No. T.I. has also cited Eminem as an influence. Does he sound like Eminem? No.

People are biased and stupid. If you're one of the greats, you take your influences and reverse engineer what they did. At some point, you're going to sound like a bunch of different influences, but people aren't going to be able to detect every single influence.

Q-Tip said that Straight Outta Compton was an influence on The Low End Theory, but the albums sound literally nothing like each other.

Ross birthed an entire generation of chubby dark skinned nikkas rocking a baldy, beard and glasses every time their outside

A lot artist rapped over the Ross style of trap beats he made popular. Rappers still try to get their soulful Ross style songs off

Lowkey, Lauryn Hill.

We still haven't seen a mainstream female rapper try to dabble in Lauryn's lane and artistry to this day. Lil Kim and Trina are the real blueprint for today's female rappers in the mainstream.

What?

Lauryn was an entire shift. We don't get a Black On Both Sides or even a College Dropout without Lauryn Hill. The whole school theme is Miseducation all day. I don't even know how this got a pass. One of Drake's biggest songs is built on a Lauryn sample. Kanye had a Lauryn Hill sample as one if his biggest hits.

I would say Missy and Kim are more so blueprints than Trina.

Tink sort of kind of tried but then the rap shyt wasn’t working so she just went rnb. Tierra Whack had some potential but she barely releases music…I guess that’s Lauryn Hill esque in a way.

I guess the cool guy rap spot, but it's hard to say that because Dom, Curren$y and Larry June all been rapping like that for years. Spitta and Dom are in Wiz's class too. I will give him the tattoo craze.
