You got a group of people who will put

Over

Because they want nas's dikk down their throat and think his catalog nothing short of perfect. Even when plenty of his shyt is undeniably terrible.

I would take Feel over the entirety of Life is Good and I am. Talking about feeling. That's really not a debate you wanna have. As if a shyt load of nas's early material didn't revolve around him being a wannabe mafia member. Nas is my GOAT but let's be serious. He contradicted himself too many times to count. While Kendrick has always remained consistent with his message from day 1. Stop the killing. Stop the hate. Put god first and master your mind.

Come on now

Why didn’t you pick something else from Lost Tapes, as a comparison I was comparing songs from two of Nas and Kendrick better albums.

And Fear is a great song not sure I would take it over Stay though or even Back When.

Nas had one mafioso album in It was Written, which was a classic. That’s what you call a conceptual album, Nas having loads of concepts isn’t a weak point.

We'll disagree there..

Kendrick chick records from poetic justice to Luther have always been top notch and never sounded forced to me

Where as often in the past nikkas was just making a chick record because they needed one and it sounded like it..

And I'd say every rapper back then had to make a girl record, it's a thing.. Some were just better at it than others

I forgot about Poetic Justice, that is a great song...not the best on GKMC but def great (and I guess Sherane is technically a girl song as well), so I'll give it to you those are both better than You Won't See Me Tonight...but that still doesn't answer what makes Loyalty better than You Won't See Me Tonight. Both songs are pretty straightforward stabs at radio/club records. Personally I like You Won't See Me Tonight more :yeshrug:

Man come on, even some of the hardcore Nas fans in the Magic 3 thread were saying they didn't like the No Tears beat :mjlol:

But what makes Loyalty that much better? Commercial girl records aren't really Kendrick's thing either, his best songs have always been the more conceptual stuff. Both songs are these real intellectual rappers going for a more commercial stab with a popular r&b singer. My point is it's just because Nas came up in a much more critical era where everything had to be hard and real. If Kendrick started in the 90's guaranteed he woulda got criticized for Loyalty.

Exactly.

In retrospect You Owe Me was a great song that still has impact today, but Nas wasn’t pushed to make party fun songs, I’ve always liked that song ever since I was a kid and always found it weird you got a section of people who would chastise it.

But look in 2024 that’s the one Nas song that’s trending with audiences the age of many of our daughters and granddaughters, the one song which is standing the test of time.

Nas ain't released an album as good as Damn since 96.
Kendrick’s attempt at a pop album is not better than Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, Life is Good

You’re da Man alone is better than anything on that shyt :dahell:

Imagine Nas putting out something as lazy and lyrically trash as Humble

What is classic about Damn? :dwillhuh:

Theres not a damn thing ‘classic’ about that album

Both are crazily dope, but Nas has too many classic features and unreleased heat away from his actual albums.

He also has Illmatic. So that ends it right there.

If I Ruled the World is better than Loyalty, Nas girl records are good in retrospect, he was just doing at a time where purists would not allow him to take risks, some of the same purists who are of the lineage of people who praise Kendrick for taking the same risks.

You won’t see me tonight
Rule
If i Ruled The World
Cherry Wine
You wouldn’t understand
Nas has a bunch of good songs with Rnb female singers, that’s his lane.

There’s nothing complex about ‘Humble’
for example.
If I Ruled The World isn't a girl record to me.. And I don't care for any of those songs outside of Cherry Wine and the Lauryn joint.. Just my preference..

I like You Owe Me too..,

And Nas took his risks.. Dr Knockboot, Kissing, Big Girl.. That just wasn't his thing.. Traditional party or girl songs just wasn't his thing..

Not sure why you're bringing Humble up

Melodrama is still a much much better album.

Better sonically, better produced, better written then whatever you wanna talk about on DAMN. That album has one skip. DAMN has many

Highly disagree...I think DAMN is twice as good as Melodrama, and I love that album. Songwriting, musical composition, production, everything on DAMN is 2 classes above Melodrama imo.

No skip on damn for me, 4 on melodrama.

Once again, you wanted to talk about that metric, and I proved you damn was held to much higher regards than Melodrama. Now if you wanna talk about subjective tastes, we can do it. If you wanna tlak about objective techniques and the merits of each album, we can do it, and I'll show you, once again, why DAMN is in a completely different league.

No disrespect to Melodrama though, but sonically, it ain't touching the grandiose music of DAMN.

It was hit and miss on I Am, although I like Kissing. You don’t like You Wouldn’t Understand? :gucci:

Kendrick has more great/classic albums, regardless of what criteria you take (critics? quality? general reception?).
Nas just has more albums.
