i’m listening to this kd3 and i just dont see it

magic & kd2 are the only albums that have the case to be seen as good/great albums

but this kd3 to me is just ok to me. Nastradamus & I Am is better than these albums to me

KDIII not my favorite of the series either but it got some standouts and at minimum it's a very good album especially in context of its era. The original Magic is the best, KD I has become very underrated, KDII probably the most well rounded project of the series. Magic III got a lot of strong tracks too. Collectively there's a lot of great tracks in these albums.

Overall I know a lot of younger fans gonna choose Kendrick and that's cool, he earned his way into the GOAT conversation at this point. Just gonna be tough to overtake Nas :manny:

The biggest Nas hater alive called it a draw, major win for God's Son
Not a naS hater at all. Not a Duckworth hater. They're the two most overrated though and both their stans are the worst hip hop has to offer.

Jesus Christ most of this thread is just Nas stans vs the same single kbot pushing propaganda under his multiple burners.

Kendrick only looks better than Nas under the perspective of comparing albums because dude puts so much work into presentation for the critics, and Nas has some duds that are weighed down by filler songs with bad beats, despite all his albums still having some incredible records.

Take the top 50 songs from both artists and compare them and you'll see how far of a gap there is between Nas and Kendrick. Nas just has far more in the clip and doesn't rely on stupid gimmicks or poetic mambo jambo in his songs. You can even break it down to top 50 verses and you'll see that Kendrick does not have as many timeless verses as Nas.

And like someone else said here, Kendrick has the benefit of coming into the game after Nas. Kendrick got to learn from a lot of great artists like Nas, Hov, Kanye, etc and take what they made and make it better or simply more artistic. A lot of concepts Kendrick has covered were originated by people like Nas. The concept for "We Cry Together" was done before by RZA, Busta, Rapsody, Game, etc. The concept for "u" was done before by Game, Nas, Joe Budden, etc. All that shyt of rapping from another artist's perspective and telling a story from their lives was done before by Lupe, Game, and more. Kendrick just took these existing concepts and made them more artsy fartsy for white / hipster critics to eat up. And now you got people in this thread fronting like critical acclaim ever meant anything in hip hop.

already arguably had one of the best discographys before the KD and magic run. its not even close now.

and as many people that dump on nastradamus, i cant verify one person that has fully listened to that kendrick untitled project
