In real time here many posters then would put Life is Good right there with GKMC for best album of 2012

Not better lyrically, not better in terms of substance, not better production wise

LIG definitely has higher highs, just a couple lesser songs on there (Summer on Smash which is filler and then Reach Out and World's an Addiction which Nas kills but the beats are just alright to me...and actually now that I think about it, Accident Murderers is fine but nothing amazing IMO, probably cuz I'm not that big of a Ross fan). And GNX isn't a weed plate lol. Objectively I'd probably have both of them at 4/5's. I don't think it's crazy to prefer one over the other.

I don't wanna get into this Nas vs. Kendrick thang, specifically, but the rap game isn't something like hoops. New rappers don't just surpass rappers from the past like that as by having a deeper skill set, accolades/accomplishments and ability.

Rap doesn't have things like shooting percentages or scaling of dificulty of shots to determine who's a better scorer.

Because rap is entirely subjective and you have to account for originality, cultural impact and the essence as it is as an artform, greats don't just get surpassed like that.

Kendrick and its not close to being close. The conversation these last few years for best discogaphy in hip hop has always been Kendrick Lamar, Outkast, Kanye West and Scarface.
All of kendrick albums rank from great to classics, while Nas has some really bad stuff.

I have never seen or heard anyone, outside of maybe thecoli, talks about Nas as one of the best catalogs in rap, never.
Kendrick has some of the best albums ever, so does Nas, but unlike Nas, Kendrick doesn't have any miss.

You could also have the argument that Nas has the most impactful album (illmatic), but Kendrick has the best album (to pimp a butterfly).

Nas having a catalog that can match Kendrick's is pretty much a coli thing for old heads caught in nostalgia. But in general, when talking about who has the best catatalog from a quality angle, Kendrick clears and that might be the reason why ny nikkas are mad...the consensus is written in stone.

I'm sorry but anybody who thinks Life is Good and I am are better than Damn and GNX should never speak on hip hop again. Nas stans really are a different breed. I Am is a 3.5 mic album. LIG is 4 mics.

i hate the coli nas stans just as much as anybody else but we aint gonna do that with LIG. shyt was nas best album since stillmatic and just an overall extremely dope project. i wouldnt call it a classic (4.25ish), but damn (4.5/5) and gnx (4.25/5) are right on par with it.
