Im not disputing that. Black people provided the foundation for all of modern music, but the progression of individual genres is a different story
So if I steal money from a bank then invest that money in legal businesses and become wealthy would you still consider me a thief?

You cant compare tangible goods to ideas. The popularization of Rock Music benefited everyone, including the artists whose ideas were "stolen". You think Robert Johnson's name would still be known without Rock :usure:

So youre saying its stealing if its from artists of a different race?

No im just saying rock is black music. The blues, rock, jazz, soul, randb etc are as indigenous to black America as reggae is to Jamaicans, japanese music is to Japanese people, afro beat to Africans etc. The fact that other races picked up on it and maybe even expanded on it, is beside the point imo. Its still black music

right but that's blacks sampling black music though
there's fukkloads of white bands that were sampled in the 80s & 90s & even now so that really has nothing to do with it.

the white takeover of Rock also has a lot to do with radio politics back then in America, white radio stations DID NOT play black music so when they played the "cover" version on the radio, the white listener had no idea that it wasn't the original. later on even if a black band was using the same instruments, playing basically the same song, they would get labelled as RnB or Funk rather than Rock.

This is where we disagree. Rock is drastically different from Rock & Roll. Its essentially a seperate genre. There is close to a 10 year gap between the end of Rock & Roll and the development of Rock

:what: Im confused. So you're saying black folks don't deserve the title of creators of rock music because white people formed it into Metal? Or are you saying black folks created it but white folks took it and ran with it and black musicians cant take credit for what rock and roll has become?

bingo. There is culture behind music. Rock & Roll culture is very different from Rockabilly culture.
