But that's not white people stealing lol and those songs were almost exclusively rockabilly tracks. By the 60's doo-wop replaced rockabilly with in popular black culture. It's like when you guys say that you completely ignore the historical events and culture of black people back then. I just posted about how Marley was :beli: at the lack of African American reception. Talk to people today and you would think we were always into him. We weren't. When he came to America black people were not into him as well as white people. It took Clapton to introduce him to white and black audiences.
by the time Marley was around it's too late, the white "takeover" had already happened. you're talking about Eminem coming through & being influenced by LL Cool J, Ice-T, Treach, etc and making "good" rap music (whether you think that's true or not is a different discussion) but the white takeover of Rock is more like if the Beasties came in and did a cover of Sucker MC's and it got play all over radio & MTV & the mainstream just acted like the Run DMC version never existed.

The only thing ill give him credit for is being in a better position to troll in this thread because of my ignorance.
The Coli in general is pretty ignorant on Rock. The attitude seems to be 'we created that shyt... then cacs stole it from us and just made it radio freindly'. You cant really have this discussion if you dont fully understand the artistic progression of Rock:yeshrug:

Its whatever though. I rarely ever chime in when people make these threads

rockabilly=rock

If super legends of rock like the rolling stones,beatles etc were mainly inspired by black rock music,what does that tell you. Nobody is saying chuck berry is the direct descendent of metallica or acdc. But the foundation of rock music is still black.

Also focusing on just "rockabilly" doesn't paint the whole picture, as the blues played a big roll in the creation of rock as well

Breh there would be nothing but blue grass and country music if it wasn't for what black folks brought to music
Im not disputing that. Black people provided the foundation for all of modern music, but the progression of individual genres is a different story

Bands like The Stones & Led Zeppelin played off of the blues in the same way 90s hip hop producers used 70s jazz & soul

The Forest Where Hope Died
No one person started rock 'n' roll. It was a black and white alloy of Fats Domino, Lloyd Price, Ike Turner, Hank Williams, Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, Ray Charles, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Buddy Holly - and Elvis Presley.

Presley himself never claimed to have invented rock 'n' roll. He always talked about how much he was influenced by black gospel music and the blues, which he listened to on the radio growing up in Tupelo, Miss. His absorption of these black influences is what allowed him to have a black feel to his music when he entered the Sun Records recording studio 50 years ago.
