:what: Im confused. So you're saying black folks don't deserve the title of creators of rock music because white people formed it into Metal? Or are you saying black folks created it but white folks took it and ran with it and black musicians cant take credit for what rock and roll has become?
Artistic stealing (in most cases) benefits both parties

pretty sure Mozart etc are public domain these days, i don't think there is an estate for royalties to go to in the first place.

If someone can claim lineage to those artists, they can sue her for royalties. :obama:

from what i've heard, copyright laws expire after 99 years or something :yeshrug: so if you're descended from Mozart or not, it's been too long. otherwise every orchestra in the world would have to pay royalties & be getting sued left & right

:snoop: The CaC thought process man
You dont even understand what Im saying. What Pat Boone, Elvis etc did wasnt artistic stealing... that was just theivery. Because they didnt add anything new, they just repackaged Rock & Roll to white america.

But what Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones did was expand on The Blues. As an artist I feel like youve gotta be flattered when someone expands on your own musical ideas. They are contributing as well, so its not just theivery.. And if they are moving music forward... that furthers your own musical legacy.

Anyways, you cant discredit 60s & 70s rock without inadvertently making the same argument for hip hop.

Breh the difference is hip-hop has never denied using sampling to create something new. Led Zepplien the Rolling stones and there fans act as if they created new music of thin air
